They left 2 voice messages today stating that I was being sued by the IRS and to call them back immediately. This is the 3rd number using this same tactic. Also received the same voice messages over the last week with the same woman's recorded voice from 509-588-7318 showing on ID as Benton City, WA and 202-738-4129 that showed caller ID as Washington, DC - Cin replies to DonI have also received several calls from this number stating I was being sued by the IRS. When I returned the phone call the gentleman that answered said " This is the FBI may I help you?" I said excuse me and he changed it to " This is the IRS may I help you?" I told him never mind and he said "What????" This is a SCAM!!!

- Slim replies to KateThere is a widespread IRS (or CRA) or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers on both USA and Canadian residents.

Canadian tax payers should read this:

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.
