I added a previous number 509.588.7318 to my auto reject list and now this number is calling with the same digital audio recording. Previous forums stated that it was a fake IRS call trying to scam people out of money. THE IRS WILL NEVER CALL YOU. They will either send you a letter or automatically garnish your wages. Do not give these people your info. I don't owe anyone money.

just got a recorded call from this number claiming to be official IRS and that they were coming after me. Total scam. Obviously a VOiP because the ID was out of area but the number is registered thru Level 3 communications which is a basically a phone number porting company. Add to your spam, reject, etc., list.

My daughter just got a call and they scared her to death. Said they were going to freeze her bank account and cancel her credit cards, but they could make it all go away if she would just pay $4000.00 by tomorrow. She's a grad student and didn't even make that much money last year. I called them back and told them that I knew they were a scam, had reported them, and that they needed to take my daughter's name off their list. The man called me a 'mother-f**er'! The guy has a really thick Indian accent and I had to get him to repeat it so I could be sure!

Received a static filled call saying the IRS is filing suit against me.  The machine said it was a final call and that I needed to return the call to the same number.  I believe this is a scam.  I am going to verify with the IRS (not using this number) that this is indeed a scam.

I just got the same call 10 minutes ago sayin I owed them 4980 dollars. I called the tax office I file with they said it was a scam. Phone number was 509-588-7368. The guy had a deep Indian accent and told me to settle over the phone or stay home so the sheriff could come arrest me and after that they would get me for running then I would pay 75000. Jackson Hewett told me it was a scam

These are criminal extortionists operating in overseas boiler rooms using VOIP to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement.

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.

Caller claiming to be from the IRS left message on my recorder saying " to inform you the IRS is filing lawsuits against you"

They wanted me to call back @ 509-588-7368...........I won't be doing that thanks to the other posts and the fact that the phone number given does not appear to be associated with the IRS.

I hope these folks get caught real soon !

Caller left a fake message about the IRS going to file a lawsuit.
So obviously some type of scam:  IRS first sends notices by mail if they determine a tax is owed.

These scumbag criminals called and left a message on my voicemail stating that they are the IRS and I must contact them about a levy they are placing on my accounts. I knew this was total BS as I am on social security and don't owe the IRS for anything. Somebody needs to find these low-life insects and eliminate them from this planet.
