I think this person is running a scam and pretending to be from the Federal Pell Grant. They said they were sending me money for school but he talked in a Indian accent and needed my bank account. I am not sure what the deal is but it seems like a scam

I'm positive it is a scam, had the same call about 10 minutes ago. Don't EVER give out your bank account or credit card information over the phone people!

My parents just received this call from 509-588-7370. Said the IRS was filing a lawsuit against them and to call this number. Very disturbing as I could see someone falling for this.

Yep, same call, same message.  IRS does NOT use the phone....Certified Mail only.

You're almost correct. They use regular USPS, not certified mail for initial contact. They have no need to prove anyone  received any letter. They do use the phone on occasion to expedite handling concerning an ongoing and previously notified by written correspondence issue,  such as an Offer In Compromise case.   As you said,  they will never make an initial contact by phone.  And never attempt to collect money except by written invoice to be paid directly to the REAL IRS Service center serving your area.

I just received a call from this number on my work phone and let it go to voicemail. When I listened to it, it was a recording saying that I have a lawsuit filled against me. The # is from Benton City, WA and since I haven't been in the state of WA since I was 13 and in general wouldn't have any cause to have a lawsuit against me, this is definitely a scam. Especially since different people on here are receiving calls from this # with other purposes... some lawsuits, some for Pell Grants, etc. SCAM!!!!

I just received my 2nd call in two months from the same place advising me of an IRS lawsuit.  Ignored the first time so why do they bother to call again?  You would think they'd realize you were on to their scam?  I'm going to report it though.

I just got a call and it said that the IRS was filing a law suit against you.  It comes up Benton City, WA.  Nice try scammers.

If the IRS is placing a law suit against me I,m sure they would not call me and tell  me to get in touch with them, they will get in touch with me. They would never call to give you this information over the phone not use an unknown number.

Got call today (this is the third time in two days) about an IRS law suit.  This is definitely a SCAM.  Don't these people realize we are on to them?

This scam was on the 11pm news Monday with interview of local IRS agent talking about it.
Ignore it they never make first contact by phone.  I received two calls today today both recorded...blocked now. .guess they heard him on tv and decided to blitz this area....

Calling from 509-588-7370. Saying they are IRS suing me asking me to call back.  Sick of this damned number calling numerous times a day.  When I call back They don't answer.
