Since it was calling from a local area code, I decided to answer the phone. I hung up after a male voice I didn't recognized spoke. - apcYep, just got a call from 510-545-8047. Asked them to take my number off their list and they made a comment about not supporting law enforcement even though they claimed to be the Oakland Correctional Law Department.
- Anonym| 1 replyGuy said he was calling from the Correctional Peace Officers of Alameda County. I don't live in CA, yet he had my name and number and called after 11 PM. I called the number back and got "The Magic Jack customer you called is not available at this time". Obviously a scam, but very troubling.
- Caller: "Correctional Peace Officers of Alameda County"

- Caller: Magic Jack
- GyalstenReceived call at 6:58 pm 11/25. I decided to take the call as 510 is my area code. Fund-raising call for Correctional Peace Officers of Alameda County, but who knows if that is true? I told him I never donate by phone and ended the call. Website: http://www.ccpoa.org/2011/11/alameda-county-f ... t-plan-details/
- Caller: Correctional Peace Officers of Alameda County
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- S12/2/13 around 3pm rec'd p/c at my SF work # asking if I would contribute to Correctional Peace Officers Foundation, to send a group of families to a Magic Show, because the "department has really taken a hit this year" and "we could sure use your support". He seemed to know about my $50.00 POA contribution that I gave last time and he wanted to know, if I could up my donation to $125- $180, to sponsor a group of families, but I told him I couldn't give that much and he asked if I could give $80.00. I agreed and he would pick the check up on Wed. at my office. POA always picks up check at my office, so I didn't think this was unusual. He told me to make the check out to COPF. I told him I always make the check out to SF POA, he told me it is COPF. I then noticed the 510 ac and I asked him where he was calling from and he told me SF, but I told him that his # was coming up with 510 ac and he began to ignore my question; sounded nervous and in a hurry to end the call. When the call ended, I called SF POA to find out if they share a list of donors with COPF; I was told that they don't, but they were going to check into this and call me back. Then I phoned the Sac COPF office to report the call and was told that they use a third party company to call for donations. I called the 510 # and it was an ans.service. I asked to speak to the person who called me and then a male answered and ID himself as Ron Smith. I c/o to him re: p/c and told him that I was withdrawing my donation, because I felt that unethical practices were being used to solicit money and that he should've told me the name of the company he works for and said that he was calling on behalf of COPF, not giving the impression that he was a member of COPF. I also told him that I had reported the call to the Sac COPF and SF POA. He apologized and hung up. Afterwards, I called the SF POA and Sac COPF office and gave them the 510 # to call, so they could warn their members re: SCAM. The unfortunate thing in all of this, is that the integrity of COPF, which is a legitimate charity that helps families of fallen officers, has been comprised by the actions of these Low Lives!
- Caller: wouldn't give name
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- jimI didn't pick it up this time, but the Magic Jack user may be spoofing caller ID with VOIP. The last time they called, I told him it could be a felony to impersonate or misrepresent a peace officer.

- Concern citizenIf you are getting a call from this # , do not give ANY information.
Instead ASK them for their name , tel. # to call, & organization name, & state license registration #.
They hung up.
Legitimate phone calls you can actually trace them.
I redial # & it was listed under something else , not the alameda peace correction officer, you can't leave msgs. Mail box full. Very shady.
BEWARE. Please alert all senior citizens. They are predators.- Caller: Alameda peace correction officer
- SkepticalGot a robo-call from (510) 545-8047 on Monday 02/24/2014 at 8:51 PM. Part of the recorded speech was cut off. He wanted me to call another number to donate to an organization which he didn't name. Seems suspicious. I added his number to the AT&T call screen list (dial *60 in case you have paid for this service.)
I will not answer the phone unless I know who is calling. I wish the telemarketing and fundraising industries would figure this out. If a human is not dialling the phone, do not expect a human to answer it!- Call type: Non-profit organization
- KenThese dirt bags called again today, 3/11/2014 at 7:03 PM. They called on 2/20 also. This time the guy said hello to the recorder and then hung up. Big time scammers.
