First, dead scilence when I answered (probably an automated system that doesn't connect to an operator until it really thinks it has someone on the line).  Man ("Mr. Bill" -- seriously) started off with a spiel about the Texas State Troopers Association. At a moments break I started to say I wasn't interested in giving and to take me off their calling list--he just kept on talking over me (and it wasn't a recording!).

Quoting from it "Donations to TSTA are not tax deductible as charitable contributions ..."  I'd say it's pretty fake, if your donations are not deductible!!!

 I wouldn't give through this kind of phone solicitation, even if it is legit.  These phone services take 30-80% (or more) of what they collect as the fee to run the solicitaion.

I just got a call from 512-410-5985 8:50 pm also.

As others have stated, how can this be legit if they don't leave a message and keep calling late in the evening.  I'm reporting them to DO NOT CALL.

The tsta is not a scam. Although only forty percent of the proceeds actually reach the troopers, i have a few friends in law enforcement that belong to the association. They have told me that they do in fact benefit from the funds provided.

DO NOT GIVE TO THESE SCAMMERS - because they are liars, theifs and scammers. If you want to help your local police association - contact them directly.
