Called this Mental Health Agency requsting records for a past patient.

An unidentified person called me from this number saying, "May I speak to Patti ______?" (my name) then, "This is disability, calling for Patti _______. What is your mother's maiden name?" This was an unexpected call regarding what I assumed was closed matter (my recent ss disability denial about which I received a letter and I said so.to the caller. ) The lady then said "That must be another claim."  Will you verify the last four of you SS number?" and she proceeded to tell me the correct last four numbers. I was very confused about she was, what company or entity she belonged to or what exactly she was calling about. She did not answer any of my questions and continued to try and get me to verify sensitive personal information.I explained that folks should not share such information with people who call them unexpectedly and that I wish to verify her identity. The caller said nothing, so I ended the call with, "I will call social security and see if this is connected." and hung up. This was a very strange phone call and seems very fishy to me. I have been unable to verify anything with Social Security and still have no idea who this person was or why they called me.

Received called at 7:40 am. Asking to verify my personal info I did not respond to their request and asked to remove me from their calling list. NO legit company calls at 7:40 am!

I just received a call from Tx Dept of Assistive and Rehabilitative Svcs.  Lord I hope that's who they are!   The rep I spoke to  was "Jimmy".  He was very direct in his questions, but know who all my doctors have been.  I did recently apply for disability and was denied.  Now I get this call.  He is sending me a form to fill out and return.  I am in need of assistance at the moment, so I hope I didn't screw up.  But given he knows much of my medical history, I thought he was legit.  I just hope he was who he said he was..  Now I'm worried sick!

While numbers can be spoofed, this is indeed the main number for the Texas Health and Human Services Department that deals with disability as shown here:

BIG SCAM!! I called SS Admin, they say this is NOT legit.    I called my bank, my credit card companies, My doctors offices to find out who they share my records with. I called credit reporting services.  So far, no activity.  Then I called my local Sheriff and filed a report.  ALL accounts are flagged.  I may need to change bank acct # and also credit card.  The social security rep said no one should call by phone. All legitimate contacts are done by mail.

When you file for SS benefits they share that information with the state.  It tells you that on the application and asks if you want to opt out.  So, the reasonable thing to do would be to call that agency up using a phone number from their website.  They have several 800 numbers listed.
You called Social Security, not this state agency.  SS does not make calls, they send letters.  SS would not know if this agency called you or not.

This caller is the Social Security Determination Services, Of The State Of Texas, which works with the Social Security Administration, to review cases, update case, and determine if you're really disable to receive benefits. They review your case every 3-4 years if you're already receiving disability or apply for benefits, requesting that you see a Doctor of their choice, to make a decision. If you don't cooperate you may loose your disability benefits.

Number appears to be long to something called the "Rehabilitation Commission".  It is not clear if this "Rehabilitation Commission" is in fact a Texas governmental agency or a private social services group.

Your description  appears correct in itself, but the phone number appears to belong to some other organization.

Which makes me suspicious that this number is being spoofed by scammers.

The ss office does not open before 8:00 a.m. I rejected the call after the first remained silent upon lifting reciever for that too isnt normal.

They called at 7:40am on a Saturday, the number was a HHS but I assure you that they are not calling people that early on the weekend and would not answer.   If you do ask for their call back number and on the main one.   Usually they drop then by saying that's against policy.

I had a call, and it popped up rehabilitation. I thought at first this was a physical therapy place from something my doctor recommended. Then find out it's something to do with social security. I have already had a few calls with it popping up calling as Social security on voicemail. I know to never give out my personal information. I called Social Security. they told me it was a scam to get information spoofing their number.

I had this number called me twice in two weeks left voice mail ..when i called them back they ask for my social i told them i dont give out my info they lady gave ma attitude said WHATEVER and hung up on me ... I really dont the ss office employees would do that

I received a call from this number the lady asked for me then proceeded to ask for my social security number I did not give it to her I stated I will call the 800 number in the morning

A man called me on a Saturday. Left voicemail stating call for _____ and gave my full name. He requested i call him about my disability? I called back. Recording says open 8-5 M-F.
