Claims to be from the office of Dr. Luis Casaubon from the Texas Diabetes and Endocrinology in Austin. They stated that I have an appointment with them, but I've never been their patient and I've never have contacted them. When I asked about how they got my information, the call dropped.

This was from Dr. Casaubon and was a legitimate appointment reminder.

this caller called repeatedly, when the call was answered, there was no response, just silence. I took a chance and called them back, got a live person, and demanded identification, and the reason for the calls. He was looking for some stranger with no relation to my number. I asked to be removed from their call list.

This is actually a legitimate appointment reminder.  Some patients do not update their phone information, so it is understandable that they may occasionally call wrong numbers.

If you know who called you, why did you come to a phone number look-up site? Do you often look up known phone numbers?

this is a medical reminder service provider that is contracted by medical offices to provide reminders for scheduled appointments. in my case this was a valid call.

Several posters report scammers, not doctor's offices.  Just because it was valid for you doesn't mean it was for others - scammers often spoof legitimate numbers.
