I must be on everyone's list today.  Just got a call from 512-717-9422.  I never answer so have no idea who or what they are other than scum telemarketers.  Knock yourselves out guys-you're giving me a good laugh.

they claim to be supporting the local police and providing scholarships for their families, and are quick to say they aren't funded by anyone but the local citizens. no matter what you say to them, they have an answer to read to you as to why you should make a commitment to them "before they can mail the "support decal" to you. You can also tell that they are recording your conversation (but don't tell you that) so they can tell you later that you verbally committed to giving them money. This is fraud, please don't fall for it! If you really want to help sponsor your local police, call them and ask where and how.

Received a call from 512-717-9422 today at 11:42am. Caller ID only states "Austin". Didn't leave a message so it must not be important.  Keep calling and all you'll get is a "no answer" from me since I do not know who you are.

Scam. Blocked.

Again, if you don't recognize the number - DON'T ANSWER! These calls are generated by "auto-dialers" that go thru about 1,000 numbers calling looking for "valid" numbers. When you answer you just got your number sold to another list. If someone really needs to contact you, they will leave a message or send USPS letter, etc.

Above poster is correct. A valid phone number on a list sells for between $5 and $7 a sheet. A recent raid at a call center in Jamaica turned up lists beside rows of phones. So scammers do buy and sell.
