Person called, with a very thick Indian accent, but a name like "John Smith". When I told him I couldn't understand him and hung up, two minutes later another person with a (less) heavy Indian accent called with a similar name. From what I could understand, someone made a "legal complaint" against me and they wanted to give me information about it. They wanted to verify my name, e-mail and address. The info they had was over a year old... makes me wonder! I hung up and told them to send me any summons or legal information via certified mail. They haven't called back yet.

I also received a phone call from this phone number a few hours ago. I didn't recognize the number so I let it go to voice mail. When I listened to the voice mail,  it was a mans voice (sounded Chinese) and he was saying that there has been a legal complaint issued against me from a "Fast Cash." He had my name, phone number, former address, and e-mail address. He told me that a loan was taken out for almost $800, but that I am being sued for almost $5000 due to late charges, legal fees, etc. He said that my SSN and drivers license number had been used. He then told me that to resolve this issue I just needed to pay the roughly $800 over the phone. I told him absolutely not, I have never even stepped foot into a Fast Cash, and that it sounds like identity theft. So I told him I was going to contact the police as well as an attorney. He gave me the name "Christopher Jones" and both times I asked for the name of his "law firm" all I could make out was "law firm." It was a very un-professional call, so I didn't fall for it for one second. However, it worries me that he had my name, number, email, and a former address.

I also received a phone call from this phone number a few hours ago.  "Austin White" claimed to be an attorney with a legal complaint against me, saying he had my SS# and address. This was a complaint from an internet Payday Loan Company in which supposedly I had borrowed $1,200., had paid back $1,000. which they had taken from my checking account (Dec., 2008) and I still owed $200.  I do admit I was not in the least way polite to this individual but I did ask him to send me correspondence and I'd have my attorney look at it and hung up. He then called back and my husband basically told him to go back to India and hung up.  He then started called 3-4 times and we did not pick up the telephone.  Oh, I forgot to include, he said the check was withdrawn from my checking account in TX - I laughed because I don't live anywhere near TX!  However area code 512 is in Austin, TX!  .... coincidence?????

This is definitely a scam.  My brother-in-law got a call from same number. Hispanic; said his name was Chris Jones and was calling to collect on a $250 loan from Fast Cash Loans. My brother refered it to me as I am a Florida collections attorney and he had no idea what the loan was about. When I called they said they were from The Carlson Law Firm in Austin Texas. Knew right off the bat they were not legit because they gave all the account info and balance without even knowing who I was; a violation of collection laws.  I called The Carlson Law Firm directly on their main number. Surprise, they never heard of Chris Jones or that number. I called Chris back and asked for supporting documentation and he said he could not provide because it was an internet loan. I asked for the supervising attorney. They transferred me to a James Anderson (Indian this time) and I asked for the supporting documentation. He said that he could not send me documentation to either a mailing address or email as it was against FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Practice Act) and the Attorney General only allows them to provide the documentation with a subpoena that would be served on me and on my brother and then we would have to pay 390% interest per annum.  At this point I just had to laugh; told them never to bother calling us again and hung up. The FDCPA says nothing like the sort. Quite the opposite, they are required to provide supporting documentation. Also the interest rate is usurious.  One final note,  The Carlson Law Firm has never heard of James Anderson either.

This just happened to me tonight. I knew it was a scam because they said I would need a criminal lawyer because I got upset with them. They said they were going to send the police to my house and rattled off my address. I knew it was a scam right then because owing money is a CIVIL matter... idiots. I recorded a 20 minute conversation with these people... they wanted 300 dollars via debit card, pre-paid wal mart card, or Western Union to a fax number in Irving Texas:214-594-0007.  If any of you would like to share your story, I will be contacting news media and the Secret Service tomorrow (the secret service handles money transfers... not the FBI as I just found out) but they are only open during business hours.  This is harassment and fraud!! The guy said they were recording me too and tried to say I agreed to pay them the money... even a verbal contract requires both parties to be honest about who they are... it's not a legal contract if one party is fradulent. Honestly I just played along for a while so I could get more information from them. UGH!!! I have cancelled all my accounts and changed all my personal passwords. Until reading all your comments I thought they had hacked into my iPhone 4 because it was doing weird things today. Do any of  you have an idea of how they got your personal information?? Please let me know.. I really want the authorities to get to the bottom of this.

I got the same call.  Very same persons voice yesterday that told me to call back to 904-383-4379 and was saying the same thing that a complaint had been filed against me, my ID number, my email address, and my physical address.  When i advised him this was a scam and he could go f himself he asked me how i knew it was a scam and I laughed.  Today the exact same person called again, this time i let it go to voicemail and he left all of the same information on my voicemail which by the way is illegal to leave that type of information and this time he advised for me to call back to 512-800-7916.  This guy has a VERY heavy middle eastern accent.  I have also received two calles from a woman, not sure if same people or not but both messages sounded like the very same woman, gave two different names, and two different phone numbers but both messages advised that if i did not call them back today they would file legal action against me tomorrow.   All of these people leave info that cannot be left on a voicemail the way they leave it.  I have not returned any of the calls.  Why can they not do anything to STOP these people.  I have filed complaints with the FTC on two other calls like this and have been advised that they are all scams.  These people have got to be stopped.  I feel for the people that actually fall for this stuff because of their threats.

"Carlson Law Firm" called my cell phone.  I asked for a call back number.  They gave me (512) 800-7916.  I called back and could hear the scammers in the backround.  I spoke to "Austin White."  Yeah, right.  Austin White with a thick accent.  I asked for legal documentation and told them I knew it was a scam and not to bother me.  They hung up.  Morons!

Yes, please someone needs to go after these scammers.

I have received 2 calls from the 512-800-7916 phone number. I let my answering maching pick up since I didn't recognize the number. The caller had a heavy middle eastern accent both times. I could hardly understand him but it was the same thing that everyone here is complaining about. The call was to my husband who died from cancer earlier this year. I knew it was a scam and didn't bother to call them back. They said something about needing his ssn and bank account #....I'm not that stupid.

I have gotten calls from these people for the last five months, every time I see a Texas area code number or any out of state area code I let it go to voice mail. The callers have HEAVY Indian accents and have names like "Peter Jones" or "John Smith". Ive called them back a couple times and have been extremely rude and asked to speak to someone who actually speaks English! They get pissed and start getting upset with me when I rudely tell them to quit calling and that I have never requested or received a Fast Cash loan. What can be done about this??

First off, the person on the phone represented himself as an officer!!! A man with a heavy accent and I replied ofiicer who? With what police department? He didnt answer instead he transfeerred me to another man with an accent. He tried to mutter some law firm and lawsuits against me blah blah.. I have recieved calls from this number a few tiems this year. They were saying all the same things as mentioned in all the above comments!!! Who are these people? I mentioned the word Scam and he got all crazy on me and wouldn't answer my questions. I said if I have a law suit I wil have my attorney handel the matter for me please give me contact info address, etc case number? And they hung up on me. If authorities don't stop these people. I will be taking legal action.

I have no loans in my name or outstanding balances with any one! I am very confused where they came from!
