Received a call twice from this number. First time they left a threatening message about a check fraud case and that I needed to call back with my lawyer. I answered the second call and they started off with the same message. Sounded prerecorded. DO NOT CALL THEM BACK. SMELLS TOO MUCH LIKE A SCAM.

I would love to be able to block these calls, they say its check fraud and I have not written a check in almost 5 years! How did you block the number??

Same as above!  This is now the 4th number they have tried to call me from in the last month.  I don't even answer...just block it!  Don't return their calls as this just puts you right back into their harassing phone call loop!  These are third party scum collectors who have obtained personal information or old outdated information regarding debts and are trying to collect with scare tactics!  First....the debt is probably past statute of limitations, second...NO ONE can send you to jail or have you arrested through the phone, email or anything in regards to debt!  Debt is a civil matter not a criminal matter!!!!!!!!!  Don't be caught off guard or feel threatened into sending money, as for "DEBT VALIDATION" and the originator of the debt...they will NEVER EVER produce such documentation because they don't own the debt.  Don't acknowledge ANYTHING or confirm information.  They will begin to get frustrated and start to threaten, and that's even if you get a live person.  If you do, tell them you are recording conversation and are reporting to local police, FBI for cyber crimes and their states Attorney General (Texas, New Jersey or wherever they happen to be calling you from) as well as the A.G. for the state you live in.  If these people are reported enough they will eventually back off or get prosecuted.  And in fact most of the time they are tracked OUT OF THE COUNTRY!  Please, for the love of God....get smart people!  Even if you had the debt in the past (don't acknowledge until they provide validation, and that means in writing...not email or over the phone) it is probably well past statute of limitations.  THESE CYBERSCAMMER SCUM NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN!!!

These people are also calling from 512-865-4229. This is the newest 'thing' for thieves. They call you and say they are from the IRS (which the IRS would never do at least not without some prior written notice) or they are collecting on a debt that you know absolutely nothing about or they are Sheriff Tony Smith (who has a thick Middle Eastern accent) who is going to come to your job and arrest you also for a debt that you know nothing about. Block the number but before you do if you get the chance let all of your worldly frustrations out on them and don't feel guilty. There is no doubt in my mind that if you give them the time they will eventually get around to asking for your credit card or bank account numbers so they can 'help' you out of the debt that you know nothing about.
