Got an email saying to text them back at 513-275-9976 if I still had my car for sale

same...wanted me to txt about a listing on CL...was going to..decided to check the number here...not txting.

Craig list, inquiry Same here  asked me to text number ,
but I did text....why? Can they do anything?

Same situation got and email reply to my craigslist ad wanted to know if this listing was still available, and to reply by text to (513) 275-9976

I replied yes and got the following text in three parts

"(1/3) thanks for the text,My name is Luke Garcia..Whats the present condition, because am buying this for my son as a Surprise gift , i am a marine technician

(2/3)and am always busy at sea that's why l wont be able to check the item or call due to the nature of my work. You need not to worry yourself about title

(3/3)transfer and shipment, i will instruct the shipping company to handle that therefore in order to complete the transaction do get back to me with your"

The message seemed incomplete and complete BS

Selling a car on Craigslist. Getting texts from this guy as follows:

(2/3) state now..i work offshore and due to the nature of work calls are restricted. Am going to make the full payment at once and PayPal is

(3/3) the only option i have to send you the funds, i do not use my bank information for any online transaction so i have it linked with

(1/3) i have it linked with PayPal so this is the reason why i am staying on using PayPal for my mode of payment to you, so get back to me with

After that nothing! I've clearly stated in my post as this being a CASH SALE ONLY. I just wanted to see what his scam was just to post it here for all to see. This guys so scatterbrained he cant even send a text right!! I love this website and I've used it many times in making my decision on a sale. Keep on posting everyone! It only helps us all with these scammers now days. Two thumbs up to everyone involved!!!

That's in regards to the car I'm selling from a Craigslist ad i posted.

I got an email asking me if still available text him at this #. I knew right away its a scam if their so Interested. They could call or text my # in the ad. Not falling for any games like this. And this is the second one I received. Different # though.

Scam call from 513-275-9976 goes by name of Luke Garcia
Responds to Craigs List ad for vehicle sale, then asks you to text.   when you do he gives long story about wanting to surprise his son and will send a truck to pick up vehicle if you give out your info and give pay pal address.   blog sites show many with the same message.   Just seeking personal info.

I would avoid this guy all together. He sends you a Pay-pal invoice that shows you have the money waiting to your E-mail address. I've called Pay-Pal direct and found out that this is all just a scam. E-mailed them the invoice that was sent to me, and they have no record of it ever existing. Pay-Pal tells me, he is making up his own invoices and sending them to you showing that theres money there. THERE IS NO MONEY!!  Its just a made up invoice that looks like its coming from Pay-Pal. He wants you to be send $950 first, to his Western Union account for his tranporting the vehicle. After you pay that, the moneys suppose to be credited back to your Pay-Pal account. YEAH RIGHT!!  I did turn in his E-mail address and phone number to have them investigate further into this. So anyone dealing with this guy, don't get fooled by the bogus Pay-Pal invoice. ITS NOT EVEN REAL!!  Pay-Pal has no record of this guy ever using them for any type of transaction. This is my second post on this number, as its all a scam. SELLER BEWARE!!

Have to add one more thing about this guys response for his transport service. The name given is Melinda Elliot 2351 E. Highway 501 Conway, S.C. 29526. After doing some research on this adress, it showed Myrtle Beach Automotive. After calling to inquire about Melinda Elliot or even Luke Garcia, they told me they have never had anyone working there by that name. So theres another fact for all to share. I really want to continue with the transaction thru my local police department to see what they can do. Moneys waiting in Pay-Pal according to him. I just might let the police handle this transaction all the way through. It would be nice to land this A$$hole behind bars!  Keep on posting, as it only helps everyone else !!

Thanks for all of the postings on this, I actually texted this number back in regards to my craigslist posting and  had a buyer who wanted to paypal me the funds for my vehicle and have a "pick up agent" come and grab the car after the payment is received. Will tell him to have a lovely day and to lose my number :)

This person is still at it I got the same mesage on 7/29/13

I got the same message.  I texted him and he claims he is in the navy and an "agent" will get the car after he pays through Paypal.  Let him Paypal the money to his "agent" who can then pay me the cash.  I hate these scams.

That's what I like about this scam. If he trusts his agent to pick up the car, then he can "Paypal" his trusted agent, who will give you cash. Oh wait! That's not how the scam works. And the scammer vanishes in a puff of logic.

I got same message today.

I received the same kind of reply for an ad I had placed on CL regarding the sale of a vehicle.  I agree with a previous reporter that let this character pay his agent and the agent pay me IN CASH then finalize the transaction.  Interesting that this number is recorded as a telemarketer.  Beware, folks!
