DO NOT give any information to these guys! My CID said "Laidlaw & Co" and you'll find plenty of complaints about them on this very website (https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-212-697-5200), but they are using a different number.
Someone named "Nick Johnson" tried to aggressively get me to give him my husband's cell number by saying "he just called, and I'm trying to return his phone call, but I missed it 'cause my phone died". I almost gave it to him, because many time my husband hires vendors whose names I don't always recognize, but I'm really glad I did not.
I'll bet when I talk to my husband later, he'll say he never made that call. I'll bet "Nick" was lyin' like a rug.

Yep! I was right. I talked to my husband and he had no idea who "Nick Johnson" was or what Laidlaw & Co. was.
They are apparently an "investment group". I wouldn't invest a ball of lint with these guys... you can bet if they're lying about returning a phone call, then that's not the only thing they're B.S.ing about.

Whatever you do, don't give them your cell phone number. If they can't make money off of you by "investing", they may try to make money off of you by selling your phone number to a hundred different phone solicitors.
It gets really expensive when solicitors call your cell phone.

And sadly, the National Do Not Call list doesn't seem to work anymore.

They've tried to call me two times now, but I have not answered. As I am located in Norway I'm always suspicious to call from abroad. As they do not leave a message I guess their rogues.

These guys are INSISTENT.  I'm in the UK and they phone me every couple of months. For some reason they don't disable Call ID, so I see them coming. On the earliest occasions, when I did answer, they were so desperate to keep me on the line it was like talking to a drowning man.  Tough!

I live mostly in the UK and was called by these people on my cellphone number, pushing the "hot tip" as below. I never deal with firms without getting something in writing (=email) and got the following extraordinary claim, which as a former financial journalist makes no sense to me. I therefore replied asking why I just don't deal with them from their alleged London office, to which I received no written reply, but I have received two or three calls at inconvenient times which I have not answered. I have since searced the UK's Financial Conduct Authority registry of UK firms and do come up with a Laidlaw & Company International at 41 Dover Street, London, W1S 4NS

    Dear Sir

Thank you for the reply back. We are a London based firm with a U.S. clearing agent. When you establish your account here you'll receive a W8 which will preclude you from paying withholding taxes here in the U.S.. As per your request I've attached some articles regarding the company TIVO (TIVO) we had discussed that I think you might find interesting. Please review at your earliest convenience.

A person identifying himself as Alex Quogan tried to call just now but my PA was smart enough to not pass him through.
I have had a very negative experience with these guys and their predecessors over the years. Absolutely none of their recommendations have been even remotely worthwhile. As one other commentator mentioned, they are persistent - they discovered my new number (from Linkedin I suspect since I saw someone from Laidlaw had been checking my profile) and I am in Brazil!

A gentleman (who sounded like he was a punk teenager no older than 18 years old perhaps) at Laidlaw called me on a Sunday afternoon of all days, identified himself as Justin Archobond threatened my life after hearing I wasnt interested in speaking with him.  I have notified the New York State Attorney Generals office in regards to this threat on my life.

Received several calls at my business from Laidlaw.  Nick Johnson is the name given as the caller.  Will not take no for an answer and was told never to call back. I receive several calls a month from them.
How do you make them stop?

Any investment firm that cold calls people on the Do Not Call list and then lies that they are returning a call is nothing but an organized crime racket.  BTW, how dumb is it to reply to a post that is over a year old and the original poster will never see?  Could it be you are one of the scum behind these calls and websites such as this are hurting your scams?

Told them several times I've been put on a list of investors where I do not belong. They keep calling back, and have found my cell phone, unfortunately.
Now, fortunately, there's a blocking option on my new phone....

They just called me and when I told them that I was going to report them, he told me that he was calling from "Jerry's Kids" and if I wanted to be mean and report them, I should go ahead. So I did.
