Well kidies I found some info on these [***]...This is the name of their business BROADWING COMMUNICATIONS, LLC , its located in Manhasset New York.

All I did was look it up..But Im getting real sick of it!! [***]

on my phone you have to go to settings & then to security and it's under call restrictions...block all except for the contact list...so i only get calls from my list and no outsiders...it puts them all in a blocked call list so i can delete them but they don't come thru as far as calling in....nice option but i have a samsung juke...

I just went onto the do not call webb site and filed a complaint well we will se what happens

Have recieved at least 10 calls from these folks. What to do? Who do I report this to?

The company who makes the calls for Auto Warranty Service Center is Broadwing Communications, New York, NY.   Their number is a land line based out of the Manhasset, NY exchange and you CANNOT call back on the number due to the programming that sets it for outgoing calls only.   The CSR that comes on the line when you call is more than likely in Florida, etc.

FTC complaints should include the name Broadwing Communications for violating your Do NOT Call registration.

516-858-3480 called my unlisted number again.
CallerID simply reads "NEW YORK CALL".
I picked up, said nothing, but placed a radio near the speakerphone
 (at least they could listen to NPR and learn something ;-)
After a few seconds, nobody had said anything, no automated outgoing message had played and they disconnected the call.
As a test, I called the number back.
A recording answered, providing a few seconds of a pleasant female voice talent advertising their Warranty service, followed by the Options to press 1 for more info and Press 2 for taking your number off their service (contrary to earlier reports filed here, so they may have been contacted by the FCC).

I pressed "2" for the Removal Option.
  N.B.: my callerID is blocked, but they apparently
  have the type of business phone account that overrides
  our privacy protections. This is problematic for at
  least two reasons:
  (a) you can't remove more than one number easily by
      entering them and
  (b) you can't learn more about them without them  
      harvesting a valid phone number.

A confirmation message (same female voice) claimed that my number (which was not read back to me for confirmation) had been removed and cautioned me that removal might take "up to 5 business days".

NOTE: these telemarketers at least "appear" to be conforming to US federal telecommunication laws, but of course no removal service I know of can actually be confirmed, so this may just be more ammunition for them to run their scam.

It's a real shame that consumers still cannot test the effectiveness of the Federal DoNotCall list. Until there's real accountability and transparency, I won't trust the DNC list with my personally identifiable information, and I do security for a living. Entering sensitive information into a system that cannot be audited and is not open source technology is just throwing good privacy at potentially bad people.

What kind of company can afford to pay useless people to do work for them?"

it's done with a computerized telemarketing system.

Called @ 8:28pm....trying to sell me a car warranty.....told them I was on
the do not call list and they tried to tell me I have a business relationship w/them and the list doesn't matter......BS!

This has to be a scam, they are talking about an Auto Warrenty...I drive an 1988 Buick, I'm pretty sure that the warrenty was up a long time ago!!!! I am also on the Federal Do Not Call list.

received a call from this number for the first time today - whatever happened to the do not call list.  they started right in with this is the second call that your warranty - at which point I hung up - this is like spam on the phone

call came from 516 858 3488 Manhasset,N.Y.,4/15/09, re:car warranty running out, second notice. I'm not sure if the "do not call" list is still in effect, but I have signed up for it when it was first started.Also have my cellphone on the list now, but I'm still getting many unsolicited calls there too. How can we permanently stop these VERY annoying calls?

I'm tired of answering the phone to get either no one on the other end....or some snippy person telling me I need to reactivate a vehicle I don't own!!!!
