This number called my Dad pretending to be the New York State Retirement system, asking for the new account number that he wanted his direct deposit put into.  When you call it back it is always busy.  I have seen several posts from other people about 518-549-5915, pretending to be all sorts of NY offices.  Beware!!!

I get calls from 518-549-2496 every few weeks, they never leave a message and they always have a busy signal when I call them.  My Caller ID says they are:   CAPNET ESP CIS - whatever that is!

1-518-549-2496 just called me at 8:30 in the morning. I answered and they hung up. I also got a cal last night at 11:00 pm from an "unknown number" its getting a little bit ridiculous.

Claiming to be Debra Sabrina following up on a Club Monetize call.

Phone number belongs to New York Dept. of State.  Deborah is an investigator of Do Not Call violations.  Club Monetize is under investigation and she called to ask questions about their call. You will never get through to 518-549-2496 but she leaves her direct dial number if she leaves a message.  Unfortuneately NYS has only two people working on Do Not Call so her call to me was for a complaint I filed im May 2011. Also, they do not handle the larger cases such as the "lower your interest rate" calls. She explained that the U.S. is working on that.

I was on another call at the time so did not answer.  I am glad I did not based on comments here.  I have not filed any complaints in years.  I did try to call back and always get a busy signal.  No message was left.

I received a call on January 14, 2013 from this number and it was from the Federal Trade Commission/Do Not Call Registry and they were questioning me about one of the numbers I reported to them about Club Monetize and wanted my statement and if they needed more information, they would mail me an affidavit to sign.  The Caller ID CAPNET ESP CIS.

I've been getting unwanted and unsolicted calls from this number, 518-549-2496 for the past 2 years.
Please remove/cancel his subscription!

This number keeps calling, but there's never anyone on the line, or at least they don't say anything. It calls back to back. It is definitely harassing calls!

The strange thing is I just started receiving calls today from this number after I faxed some paper work to the NY Department of State. I even thought it was a legitimate call initially from NY DOS, then realized it wasn't after about the 3-4 calls within an hour and no answer. But it leads me to believe someone from NY DOS is giving personal numbers out. So far, they have only called my house phone, if they call my cell phone, which was also listed on the information that I faxed to NY DOL, then I know for sure someone from NY DOL is compromising our personal info.

This call is coming from a NYS number...State telephone numbers are routed through Capnet and the original callers number is not shown but a number that is made up though capnet.  That is the number you will see on your caller ID.  It is a legimit call coming from a New York State Employee.  It could be from Motor Vehicle..It could be from NYS Workers Compensation.  It could be from the Governor's office or the NYS Department of Labor.  It all depends on the type of business you may or may not need to do business with the state.

It is someone from the NYS DOL calling you. NYS numbers are all routed through capnet.  Someone from DOL is trying to reach you.  I am a state employee, that is how I know this.

It could belong to any State agency...not just the Dept of State. I am a state worker and all State telephone numbers are routed through Capnet and assigned a telephone number.

CAPNET ESP CIS is the NYS Capitol Empire State Plaza phone system. Probably just nice people trying to do their jobs.

if thats the case why is the number always busy when you try to return the call?

It is legit for me. It was NYS disability.
