Asked me about default student loan to increase payment and send to another lender. Asked me about my personal information no SS# then to process payment and it did not go through. I never gave my cc# and that's when I knew it was a scam then asked to process again. I said I will pay online directly and hung up. I call back number is busy.

Wanted to discuss a call I made to "Do not call Regestry" regarding some chimney Cleaning company (?)

So who IS the caller from this number?  A legitimate employee of the Do Not Call Registry, or a scammer?  How can one number be for the Federal Trade Commission, a student loan organization, and the Do Not Call Registry?  Something's very suspicious.  I'm blocking the number because even if somehow it is a legitimate call, now I don't trust it.

Received a missed call on my cell. When i called it back I got a recoding that it is a non working number. In reading the posts it seems there is a connection to NYS agencies. I had filed an application with the NYS dept of Taxation yesterday so it makes sense that they might be trying to contact me. But why don't they leave a message. Or could they just be trying to validate if the number I gave them is a real number?????

Just read this comment and it's funny because I just had to call my retirement system and now I got this call but ignore it if they don't leave a voice mail; makes me wonder if they can track my outgoing calls.

I got a call in Pennsylvania at work from a woman stating she works for the NEW YORK STATE Homes & Community Renewal and that they are a NY state agency.  She left a message and a return number which was different from this number that she called from.  I'm guessing the call came through on a routing phone (PBX) box that NY state owns and it doesn't belong to a person.  Anyway, it was odd she was calling me in PA so I looked up the number she left and I came across the list I included the link to above.  Her name and number is on it so it appears to be legit.  

I would say that if you got a call from that number then it is from an employee with the NY state but they could be with any department and if they don't leave their number don't worry about it.  However, if they call back then it would be good to answer.  Especially if you get a lot of calls from them and no messages and you are frustrated.  You can be at ease to answer it and know it isn't a scammer calling.

The Capnet ESP means that somebody called you from a state phone, the system does not let you id them and the number that shows is not correct, not sure why maybe for security reasons who knows.

I work for a NYS agency and this is how my phone number shows up. The call could be important. You can't call the number back. Pretty much all NYS employees that use capnet, have this number show up on caller ID.

I have no clue who this is but they should leave a message if they need me that bad that they called 3x's in a row

This call was about retrieving $ from my mother-in-law's estate (she passed away 2 years ago...to the day).  As with everyone else, tried calling, busy signal, etc.  Despicable if they are scamming and trying to cash in on someone's death.  My dad always told me "You don't get something from nothing".  Buyer beware!

Interesting they called my cell phone this afternoon, after I called NYS Retirement from my office phone this morning.  I was driving so couldn't pick up, but when I called back I got a fast busy.

I get this call a lot - from CAPNET ESP N PE  at 518- 549-5915, which is a very stupid name, exactly to match the kind of scam these idiots are pulling via their robo calls. There was a time, many moons ago, when you had to be creative to be a scam artist - now these guys are just lazy slobs. Shows you what today's technology can do on its downside.

Received a call from "Joe". Stated he was with NYS retirement system. He got my SS#.

Two days ago I applied fir my nys retirement and now getting called from this number.  If it's important why won't they leave a message.  I also cannot get through to that number.   Message says number is disconnected.
