This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam a year ago:

Thanks for this information. They have been calling my work since Friday and today they started calling every 30 seconds. No other calls could come through at my work number. I called them on the fact they were scam artists. They still called and threatened the people I work with.

This guy named Marcus Houston (indian guy) said that i was scamming companies by getting money from them. He threatened to have the cops come to my job and all. He said that I was being sued, lol. I had a few questions for him. 1- why didn't I get served any papers from the court
2- why do you [***] waste people's time like this
3- I work at a government facility and this call is being monitored, is your attorney persent for discussion?
These scammers hung up on me. I gave them a dose of thier own medicine. I called them back and started giving them true facts about law. I also stated every type of company they try to use as coverups. This guy hung up again and that was that.

I have received numerous calls from this number.  The person at this number had a middle eastern type accent and it took me several tries to understand what they are saying.  Once I was able to discern what they wanted, I found that these "people" had my personal information, including full name, address, telephone number and social security number.  I do not know how they obtained this information.  They proceeded to argue with me about me taking out a payday loan with their company "Cash Advance".  They stated they would charge me with international banking fraud, internet fraud, theft by receiving.  Fortunately, I worked for a third party collections agency in the past and I knew these claims were illegal.  At that point I knew this was a scam and I immediately contacted the FTC to file a claim with them.  I suggest anyone who has had this number call you do the same.  The next step after that is to check each of your credit reports with Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union (you can do this by visiting the free website annualcreditreport.com).  Monitor your credit and report any discrepancies as well as place a "fraud alert" on your account.  DO NOT VERIFY any identifying information with this company and IMMEDIATELY get to work on following the suggestions above.  DO NOT GIVE OUT your financial information to any of these people, they will defraud you of thousands of dollars before you are able to stop it.  Good luck!
