I've been getting this number calling me for about a month now. Usually they don't leave a message although they have left one twice. The first message was just a Hello, Hello, Hello, if they really wanted to leave a proper message, they would've identified themselves. Today the message was just Sorry, Sorry, Sorry, and again did not Identify themselves. When I phone back, I get a busy signal. Over the years I've experienced telemarketing calls like this. This is a technique they use, pretending to be a friend or relative. If they were either one they would identify me and themselves. That's what a proper business does. Also a proper business decides that after two phone calls and do receive a reply, it's time to move on to another number and not to go back and keep phoning. I see that this number has been doing this to other people. With today's technology it should be easy to find out who these people really are and charge them with harassment and loose their license. All telemarketing agencies should be watched and follow rules. I also have doubts about the DNCL too. I also hope that this forum is not a telemarketing business, I really hope that you don't save my ip number and start to harass me too. Thank you.

I too have received 4 phone calls from this 519-900-0475 number. If it was a telemarketer they would at least speak to you.

I don't believe this a telemarketer. The third time I answered there was someone using a coded message.  It was 5 words and they hung up. This is unusual.  I do believe that is someone scamming your phone number.  I have reason to believe it is someone is scamming our numbers.

It wouldn't shock me that I may receive one big fat telephone bill from my service provider. I will be checking at the end of this month.

I have reported such incidents in the past to Bell,Rogers, and Virgin.  The people who are employed by Bell,Rogers, and Virgin are nothing to write about.  We have an privacy law. Bell.Rogers, and Virgin will never go after these people.

It is no use contacting the government watchdogs. If this is a phone scam then we have to watch our backs and monitor all incoming phone calls.  Who knows if these people are reading our complaints and laughing about it.

It is not going to be that easy.  Bell,Rogers,Virgin and whoever else will never divulge such information.

We all better make sure that we monitor our phone calls.

Between last week and 6:40 pm today we have received 8 phone calls from this 519-900-0475  (now calling as unknown caller)
I answered - It started with qustions about whether or not we thought we had an environmentally frieindly house - furnace filters etc.  Do we recycle.  Do we have asthma.  Then personal information was requested name, age etc.  - which as a family we refuse to answer to persons unknown.

Today my husband answered the phone - same phone number the spiel started the same.  He was very angry on the phone demanding to know who they were and why they were calling and to not call back.
20 minutes later another call - his response was more negative.

Then they called back as unknown caller - twice in 5 minutes - still trying to talk to him.  He threatened for all it was worth to report them to the RCMP as harrassing.  Now they are calling  as unknown caller and not talking.

What annoys me most about these creeps making these harassing fraudulent phone calls is that nobody seems to want to do anything about it. I've called several different watchdog agencies and though they appear concerned and take the phone number down, you never hear back from them.

The fact that these type of phone calls are proliferating so rapidly shows nothing is being done to mitigate the crime. Though a recording at the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center instructs you to contact your local police, a representative at the center ( formerly called Phone Busters) told me the police will only act upon a crime that has been committed or if there is property loss.

That is total B.S. because there has been an obvious intent to commit a crime and that should be enough for the police to act upon. If the police observe someone acting suspiciously, do they not immediately question the suspect to ensure nothing unlawful is being planned, or do they wait until an actual crime has been committed? If I call the police and tell them that someone is walking up and down my street casing homes, are they going to wait until someones property is trespassed upon or broken into before they respond?

When the police set up a roadblock and stop you for questioning, have they not already concluded that you MIGHT have committed a crime, even though no intent has been demonstrated? And by doing so, have the police not contravened your right to the "presumption of innocence?" Why should known fraud-artists not be treated with at least the same level of scrutiny?

No doubt people have already been defrauded by these telemarketers, with many likely being the aging and infirm. Regardless of what law enforcement terms as "intent", crimes ARE being committed on an ongoing basis and if the police aren't following up on them, they are in dereliction of their duties.

It took me over two hours on the phone the other day to finally find the proper number to report this type of scam, largely due to a comedy of errors provided by MasterCard ( the real one).

In Canada, these are the contact numbers you need to call:

    Canadian Anti‑Fraud Call Centre.

    Toll-free: 1-888-495-8501
    Overseas and local: 1-705-495-8501
    Toll-free fax: 1-888-654-9426
    E-mail: info@antifraudcentre.ca

Call your local phone company as well and ask them what they're doing about criminals fraudulently utilizing their telecommunications system. if they try to pass the buck on to someone else, ask them what they would do if you were making harassing phone calls claiming to be a credit card company. Contact your local MP and inquire whether they are aware of this criminal activity and what's being done to prevent it and apprehend the guilty parties.

Don't let your local police off the hook either. Give them a list of numbers with pages printed off from 800 notes, recordings of personal phone messages, or whatever else you think might provide evidence that someone is intending on defrauding you or already has.

Remember that your hard-earned tax dollars are going towards paying for these public servants to act on your behalf. If they're not in the business to "serve and protect" you, who is it that they're serving?

Coincidentally, as I finished typing this, I received a phone call from 519 – 900 – 0475. When I answered, the woman caller asked if they were speaking to the man of the house. I responded by saying they were speaking to the police. They said sorry and quickly hung up. I'll be surprised if I receive another phone call from the same number.

This number has been calling for days - Called Bell Canada and although I subscribe to Call Privacy, there is nothing they can do to block this number and the system says this number can not be blocked. I wonder if this a scam as I see many companys offer to help you identify this number, but I expect there is a cost. Maybe they have set this up to get you to subscribe

Called three times now - Just a heavy breather and I can hear talking in the background. These telemarketer idiots get paid to "talk" so they just try to waste air-time so they can book it.

If anyone finds out who it is POST THE COMPANY NAME. I am dying to get a piece of these morons. (I keep reporting them to the National Do Not Call List, but I bet that does not good at all.)

We have several calls received. Sometimes, there is no reply, however, twice they claim to be making a survey.

I got a call from this number this morning.  The only "message" was a clearing-of-the-throat sound and a "Hello" from what I assumed is a female.  My solution is NOT to answer the phone at all when I don't recognize names and numbers...just let it ring or answer and hang up to stop the ringing.  It might be crude but it works.  My "philosophy" is, "I don't have to answer the phone just because it rings.  I do have a choice...the phone is mine" :)  Like many people say, "If it's important, they'll leave a message".  I say, "If I think it's important, I'll return the call" :)

The No Call List is a NATIONAL JOKE! Everytime I get an unsolicited call I've posted a complaint. I've posted at least 50 this year alone. The CRTC won't even tell me if they're working on these problem calls. I called my MP and, well, that's another waste of time.

The company name I got this time was SBB - but she wouldn't verify the spelling of the name (ex. B - bravo?) and her accent is so thick.

I grow tired of all these calls. I'm also embarassed to know that my government can't deal with these miscreants!
