- newfiechick replies to Mike Thompson| 1 replyWe have been getting them too, they say thay are looking for my mom who is in ICU FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE. They are very rude!!!!!!!
They said that they are calling on behalf of Scotia Bank, however I contacted the bank myself and they said that call never came from there branch!!! - newfie chick| 2 repliesWe have been getting calls from this number At different times, they are not leaving a message and is looking for our mom who is in ICU fighting for her life. The lady on the other line was very rude and will not give us any info about the call only that she needed to talk to my mom ASAP. She said that she is calling on behalf of scotia Bank, when I called the bank myself to see if we could have these calls stopped, they told us that the call had nothing to do with the bank..My Mom has no account and never has had a account with them so that is why we found it strange for them to be calling. This is very annoying to say the least and just to think that we have explained where our mother has been for the last 6 weeks, but yet they still call!!!!!!

- Definitely not that guy...Thanks for the number listing @Deadbeat.
One of those numbers had been calling me for about 2 weeks now...during the day....in class...can't answer. Another number on your list called just this morning and I picked up. Heard an auto dialer ask me to press 1, nope!
Called the number back and spoke to an ARC representative who asked if I knew 'Dave' or another guy with the same last name as 'Dave'. This is the second time in 6 months I've had to call one of these companies back while they were out fishing for someone. The name they are looking for is not the same as the one listed for the phone number they called and I'm pretty sure they know that.
Unfortunately I told them it was a cellphone...hope that doesn't come back to bite me!- Caller: ARC (collections)

- barbiedollthis is a collection company that from what I discovered has bought and old credit debt that cant be collected legally it too old. However I assume they scare enough people into giving them money. tell them to screw off Don't give them your address or any info. Tell them your logging all calls its harasment. If they were legal they would not be hiding there number. What they do is call thru a computer which changes the area code or part of the number so you pickup. If it s a number you don't know dont answer it or do what I do answer and hang up. answer and hang up. they hate that because if they call more then 3 time a week you can report it.

- barbiedoll replies to DeadbeatThanks for the list Deadbeat I will block them all. or Answer and Hang Up they hate it because if they call back to many times it harresment.
- mikeThis is accounts recovery corporation
offices all over the place self proclaimed to be the beast at what they do
they smother you with machine phone calls
they don't care if you owe anything or not. they purchased an account from say best buy or hbc credit card or whatever who says jane doe or whoever owes money
they don't give a flying f if you do or don't. all they know is they spent money to get that account and they're going to get money out of you or spend a long time trying
they use readable numbers like above and sometimes their number displayed will be "unknown number"
best thing to do is download call blocker app for all the readable numbers. the "unknown number" can't be call blocked as far as I know so put your phone on vibrate and ring. when it vibrates just disconnect the call
eventually even they will stop calling. the costs to them and all collectors of eventually collecting on your debt will be greater then the debt so they stop
Little advice.
Collection agency staff like to threaten heaven and earth to compel you to pay money. The reality is if you're at collection agency level your credit rating is crap no matter what you do. If you go bankrupt your credit rating is crap for a long time. If you just walk away from your debt and don't pay it your credit rating is crap. If negotiate a debt settlement your credit rating is crap.
Don't believe any collector when they tell you that your credit rating will be wonderful if you enter into this or that agreement.
Also, you hold a lot of cards. If you're an ordinary person owing couple thousand here, couple hundred there, etc, chances are 50/50 they won't go to court to get a judgement against you. Your credit rating is crap anyway so they can't harm you further that way. Going to court means they would have to spend more time and money taking you to court then they would have to enforce the judgment, ie: make you pay.
If you're "judgement proof" or 1) have no assets, 2) have no bank account or no cash in bank and 3) no job, creditors can't enforce a judgement against you. They just spent a good amount of money getting a judgment they can't enforce.
Creditors are in the business of collecting money not losing more.
Next time one of these people calls you and tries to push your buttons remember, they only succeed if you let them.- Call type: Debt collector

- cteaJust got a call from these people ... only rang once. I have now marked it DNA in my list of callers so I know not to answer it. Thanks to those who have let us know about these people. I don't owe any money to anyone, unless you count this month's unpaid Enbridge Gas Bill ... which I have not received yet (lol) ... so obviously they either have a wrong number, want the person who had this number before me ... or someone with the same last name (maybe the same initials, but not necessarily). So now I know I can just ignore them. Thanks.

- MetisseDon't know, don't care to know ... calls before 8:30 a.m.
Read somewhere to just say 3 little words, Be Right Back .... leave the phone until you get the busy beep signalling they hung up.
Second tip was to press lb. sign repeatedly to confuse auto-dialer.
Good luck, my creditors, if they have ever called, use their company name along with their number !!! A big thumbs up for transparency!- Caller: +1-519-900-1415

- ToadUso replies to Fed Up!They have been calling me nonstop saying they are from Roger's.Problem is I don't have a Roger's phone and they are calling me on a phone that isn't even registered in my name. When I confronted them about that they told me "We have our Ways".
- bebaMost of the time I forward the calls to an old cell # OR just pick up and hang up just as quickly - split second
for every 877-866-800-519-778; I do NOT owe anyone any $ so I sleep easy and will keep hanging up or forward the calls. If there was ever a live person when they call, I would have my friend, a COP pick it up.
These loosers buy very old outstanding bills, includuing from Dead people and if you have the same last name or live at the adress, idiots WILL call. - SMJAnnoying, annoying, annoying!!! Calling my cell phone number (which I seldom use). Like other people, I do not owe any monies, but the person who had my cell number before me sure did.....her name is Chantal but I can't get anywhere else.
