I just got the same call. He told me ther were asking for donations for Fire Dept and charity. They said they'd send me the info, waiting for info to arrive.

Delay in responses. Called on behalf of firefighters association (IN California!?). I'm n NC!   Scam. Blocked the number.

They wanted donation but I only steal others' work to feed my child. I told them I could offer my theft services along with Volcano Corp. but sadly they hung up on me. This has hurt my feelings.

Received call on my cell from California (I'm in Ohio), claiming to be Firefighters for burn victims in my area.  I said, "But you're not from MY area".  He hung up!

I got a call from this number at around 12:45pm today and it was a man (or very realistic robot) calling on behalf of a charity that helps firefighters and burn victims. He first asked for a donation between $100-$350 and I said no I can't afford that. Then he asked for a smaller donation between $35-$60 and I said no again. Then he said $20 and I again refused, telling him I will not do anything over the phone. He then said I can go to afpcares.org to make the donation. The website looks pretty bad to be a "reputable national charity organization" as he claimed. He then asked me what donation I would feel comfortable making and I said none and hung-up. Of course there's a lot of bs in-between to make me believe they are an actual organization. In short, it's a scam.

@pattyrak77. Agreed. The guy said his name was John. I received the same story and said that I would look into his organization and potentially donate on my own terms.  The story I got back was that "now a days" it's just easier to donate on the phone. Then I said no and got the silent treatment like others in this blog are describing.

This is a robot. A very, very well programmed one. It replies to key phrases with relevant answers then goes back to the script. Very clever, and very creepy.

If you receive a call from this number saying that they are the Children's Burn Foundation, they are NOT. Automated call. Soliciting "locally" for a charity in California. When I mentioned I live in Ohio, the last words were repeated. Hung up at that point. Tried to call back to be removed from list, but no such number.

Me too. Sleeping in on a Saturday and it woke the house. I answered, no response so I hung up.

Missed call on Saturday at 9:27 AM in Ohio.  Would real human representing legitimate charity be calling at 6:27 AM in California?

Also in Ohio and was called @ 12:11PM on my cellphone.
When I answered I said nothing for about 10 seconds when it responded "hello?"
I responded with my company name and it replied "I'm sorry mam, this is John....."

This robot is programmed well. Other than long delays it sounds very natural however when I asked it "why is the earth round?" it didn't know how to respond.

I just got a call to my mobile from this number (530) 314-8906. I answered the phone but hear nothing; silent for less than a minutes and the line was hang up. I called back and hear the message, the phone number is invalid. I block the number. I would find out how to report such phone call to FBI. Thanks.

No, they wouldn't - it is against state & federal laws, for one thing. They vary a little from state to state --- but not that much!

You call the TCC or the TFC - I forget which - & tell them. If you call the wrong one first, they'll simply direct you to call the other one - you can get the numbers on line.
