in buenos aires, right when i bought an international plan from AT&T. so far i am getting about 20 calls in two days. the strangest thing is that the same number keeps calling the house number i am staying at also. i don't understand how if it comes from ATT then why is it calling my house number when i didn't cal AT&T with that number.

Also in buenos aires! Did not answer, too late at night. I use AT&T in the states but i am using local providers while out of the country.

I am traveling in Argentina, got calls from 541 230 0002 and 541 230 0003. It turned out to be call from my family in US, I guess it's the local network assigned numbers to international calls.

People, what i suspect is that number is from a calling card. Because I also in Buenos Aires and I received a call but it was someone else. I think is the calling card that people from USA use. sometimes those things happpens.

my husband is an engineer at a mine in the Andes mountains and when he uses the office phone to call me in central pennsylvania it comes up 541-230-0002 on my cell phone caller i.d.

Just received a call from this number and they actually had my full name, and asked for me in spanish.  They asked if they were calling a home or business....  They actually called my office, who knows how they got this info but I did not respond to their call.  Told who ever called that I was not in....

I just got this phone number also while traveling in Brazil, but I am near the Argentina border in Iguassu Falls. What gives?

I get a call from this number and one that ends in -0003 every week. No voicemail and when I call back the number's voicemail says it's Sarah Cycle with SPM? I'll pick up next time they call to see what happens. Also am in Buenos Aires and these calls began the weekend I arrived in the city. I also have AT&T. Guess it's time to switch providers bc AT&T really blows.

Got a weird call, like someone crying and you cannot really tell who it is (like a woman) or what they say.

Receiving repeated calls from this number.

I got called with this number while in Argentina more than 10
times and Att billed over $40 but I never answered
One call.  Complained to Att and said they will remove
On the second billing cycle.  When traveling to Argentina
Or any International location that you have to pay
Even if you don't answer.  Best to sit off phone while out
Of the country.  But then you can't get text or use data & WiFi.

Same is happening to me today.  Probably 8 calls.

A friend of mine in India gets calls from these nos:

54 3216 818-0618

What pisses him most is that the calls come after midnight. The service provider either can't do anything about it. So, his only option is to keep the mobile on "silent" mode.

By looking at the initial two digit code, one can assure that the calls are either originating or re-directing from Argentina. However, when you check for the area code 3216 there is none:

As of now, the frequency has reduced to 2-4 calls per week.

I think I have an answer.

I am in Buenos Aires and misplaced my US cellphone somehwere. I called my US number from my Skype on my laptop, and was able to find the phone (snugged in a deep pocket in my luggage).
The phone recorded the incoming call as being from 541-230-0002.

Clearly this is the local dial-out number used by Skype (and others) to get the local call rate for an international telephone call conveyed to Argentina via internet. There is no way to identify the call source upstream from this local number.
