This possible scam called my home phone at 12:27PM Sunday. Glad I was not home and did not answer. No message was left.

I agree, I finally had to turn all my ringers off and now I am getting unwanted calls on my cell phone.  If I didn't need my phone for internet I would yank it out of the wall.

Got a call from 559-473-2680 a few days ago.  When I went to add it to my block list I noticed a similar number.  So I decided to call the number and got a message stating something like that no one could come to the phone because they were busy or closed.  So I called the other number and got the same exact message.  Therefore I tried a few more and found all the below numbers have the same message and are likely the same telemarketer / scammer.  Needless to say they have all been blocked!

559-473-2640, 559-473-2650, 559-473-2660, 559-473-2680   559-473-2670 was always busy so I assumed that's the number they are currently calling from, so I blocked it as well.

I never answer unknown numbers. No longer have answering on because of so many scammers. But let it ring to my fax. Hope they enjoyed the fax tones.

Out of Area caller left no message. Blocked.

Joel Collins from the Fraternal Order of Police (either a live caller or the best sounding robo caller ever, LOL) asking for donations. I hung up mid-spiel and promptly added to my blocked list. Sorry not sorry, Joel.

Unfamiliar number. I've started blocking these unknown numbers before it goes to a message, and before I can get to 800 notes.

I believe that if I let it go to a message, they know that it's a good number even if I don't pick up. These jerks are a BIG problem on my phone, and it just seems to get worse. When I'm home, Callclerk can block them the first time if I get to it before my message is done, so I always check and hurry to hit the "block" button. They hear the "this number is no longer in service..." message with the phone co. tones if I am fast enough, otherwise they can hear callclerk's "git outta here" spiel. I think if they listen to that, they know this is an active phone.

Call-blocking equipment and some call-blocking services answer the phone after the first ring, because they don't get the Caller ID until after the first ring, then they hang up. That sequence tells the autodialer equipment the number is one in use.

The call-blocking services that TSPs (Telephony Service Providers) provide don't have to wait after the first ring. For example, Google Voice will tell blocked numbers that the number called is not in service. Other VOIP providers can do the same. Telcos are very stingy about giving a customer the ability to block lots and lots of numbers; once upon a time there was no need to. They wanted to charge for it. Also, memory was small and expensive.

Another robocall from this Fresno landline arrived today, less than 10 months since the last call on Oct. 26, 2015.  Once again, when the call rolled to voice mail, the caller left no message.  This pattern is typical of robocallers using automated dialers to place calls in search of gullible victims.

Several posters report this appears to be a scam charity, possibly associated (accurately or fraudulently) with law enforcement.  If that is the case, I wish they would be more vigilant about enforcing the Do Not Call law and not contributing to the problem of unwanted calls.

According to the website www.whitepages.com this number is described as "scam or fraud" and has been flagged as "extortion."  Wow!

I called back after receiving no message.  He answered saying "Hello?" I said "You called me?"  He said "Thanks for calling back - this is Joel Collins.."  I hung up.

Called again today. Didn't answer. Let it ring to my fax.

This Fresno robocall is really getting desperate by phoning again today, just 1 day after phoning on August 17.  Once again, when the call rolled to voice mail, the caller left no message.  Robocallers using automated dialers to place calls do this all the time in their relentless search for gullible victims.

Several posters report this is a scam charity, possibly associated with law enforcement.  If that is the case, I wish the minions of the law would spend more time enforcing the Do Not Call law instead of dialing for dollars.

FAKE Fraternal Order of Police soliciting $. but its a SCAM!!! They call me over and over from different numbers. I block as they come in but within a few weeks, they call back from another number. I'M SOOOOO SICK OF THESE SCAM.SPAM CALLS!!!

So the scammer is back to using this number again. Call made to my home phone at 5:18 PM on 8/18/2016 showing FRESNO CA as caller. I have never answered calls from this number before so what makes then think I will now? Caller left no message.

ID says: "V81820......".....  Spoofed number. Call, say nothing, ignore the screener's warning, and you get blocked! All scammers and unknown, unspeaking callers get blocked forever! Good riddance!
