I didn't hear this call come in. Was outside shoveling snow. Yes, we get snow in Oct., even in Sept., depending on where you live in Colorado. Anyway, when I came back inside and checked my cellphone, I saw 3 calls.

One call, and the only voicemail, was yet another one about the Student Loan Forgiveness Program. It's a phishing/scam call. Was left an automated voicemail, as per usual for this scam. The vm sounds like a real person calling, though it never mentioned me (or anyone they might be looking for) by name, which they wouldn't, since no one in my family has ever had a student loan. Here's what the vm said:

"Hi, this is is Emily calling with The Student Loan Advisory Board. I'm, um, just reaching out to you in regards to your Federal Student Loan balances, and I have some great news! You've been pre-qualified for the The Student Loan Forgiveness Program. Um, however, it's imperative I speak to you as soon as possible, before the programs change. So, please give me a call. You can reach me at 866-680-1070, and um, I look forward to speaking to you, and have a blessed day."

I guess they figure if they leave a vm, people who do have student loans will be stupid enough to call these shysters back. DO NOT CALL THE PHONE NUMBER LISTED IN THE VOICEMAIL, unless you can hide your own CID from them and you want to play mind-games with who ever answers!  They only want to phish/scam you. They're looking for any and all details they can get out of you... your name, address, phone number, Dr. Lic. #, SS#, bank details, etc., whatever they can talk you into giving them. I just don't bother.

I hadn't gotten one of these for a few weeks. Thought maybe they had stopped, but since Betsy DeVos was again in the news recently, over her dirty tricks to con people who took out student loans into paying back money they shouldn't actually owe. So, I'm not surprised someone is taking advantage of this scam again.

Student loans should all be forgiven. The cost of college is just too expensive!
