I got a call and it is likely from someone selling Country Club Ads, I get these from time to time from this area code, they are right across the street from the PGA offices and offer an ad in a publication that is going out to the country clubs in your area.

Yeah right, whatever... I added them to my call routing, I send them back to themselves, so when they call, it automatically rings their OWN NUMBER.

Same thing.  Country Club ads but when I told him it would be at least a month before we did any advertising at all, he promptly said "Bye!" and hung up in my ear-lol.  I'm adding them (anthony) to my call routing.  This will send them back to themselves, so when they call, it automatically rings their OWN NUMBER.

Here's they key, when they call, ask them to send you an issue along with a reference.

Same here. We supposedly came up on some member referral list. I figured it was a BS call so I didn't answer. Yep, ask them who referred you and you can bet they'll hang up. We do security systems. What this ripoff outfit does is get the golf pro or someone with the Country Club to drive around and make a note of any yard
signs from companies who have done work in the area (security companies, roofing contractors, siding companies, contractors, etc).

I usually either ignore these jerks or answer with "Terrant County 911. What is the nature of your emergency"? Some of the responses I get are priceless.

Don't you just hate people who lie to you to get your business.

I love the idea of rerouting the call back to them. Great idea!

Called looking for our company's owner, said he's Antnee (Anthony) from [our City's] country club representing the homeowners-- right there,  I knew he was BSing. I told Antnee to stop calling this number.

This gentleman (Anthony Hall) called 3x before leaving a message.  I am a realtor and he indicated that several members of an exclusive country club and nearby high end homeowners had referred my partner and me, blah, blah, blah.  He didn't pronounce my name correctly and didn't have our team name correct,  and generally sounded unprofessional.  Glad I checked online before considering calling him back.

Business owners beware. "Anthony" is in a call center in Boca Raton. This group sells ads for the "Leisure Lifestyle magazine." They have a very slick sales pitch to get a local business owner to commit to $1500 "for a whole year". The tell-signs are:
1. "We make the Leisure Lifestyle magazine available to all the country club members." They do not have a verified circulation like legit magazines.
2. He gives a range of zip codes they cover then says "we cover 3800 homes of club members near 5 country clubs near Houston." He drops names of several country clubs.
3. Pricing described by "full color on 80# gloss paper," size of each and prices ranging from $700 to $1500 and "you will be the only business in what you sell if you buy the full page now." Then when he's not hearing "oh let me give you my CC number," Anthony drops this sleazy pitch:
4. "Miss Anne, We have a dilemma. We're almost done with the magazine so I can work with you on the budget. If you buy the full page today, you can pay only $1200 for the whole year."
He said, look us up online, high luxury country club magazines. When I said I'd looked up the magazine name and see 2 RipOff Reports for Leisure Lifestyle magazine, he was ready to get off the phone.
DO NOT buy ads in Leisure Lifestyle magazine or any other sales guy who calls on the phone to sell you an ad and cannot come to your business or mail you a copy or show you the complete magazine's last 4 issues online.
