You people flippantly posting your opinions - have you ever actually done BUSINESS with this company - have they harmed you in any way? Please list details and facts not your ignorant opinion just because you received a phone call and there was money involved. Why should YOU be believed?? Maybe YOU are ignorantly providing false or misinformation just parroting someone else's opinion.
It's not good business to slander someones business and reputation without real cause.

There are many companies now (and some that are no longer in business) that produce or have produced TV programs - these articles you have sited have no connection with this company or phone number.

That's because they switch their company name and phone number every few weeks. That's the only way these kind of things work -- but goes to show what kind of racket they are running. All of the articles are about the same company... I know people who worked there and quit in disgust once the scam came to light.

Again... these people DO NOT DELIVER. Stay away. Far away.

Alex Barry is an obtrusive, arrogant and threatening person. His phone attitude is abrasive. Cut him off ASAP if he calls. The guy forgets he is talking to a potential customer.

Follow up: When I asked Alex Barry for references of people he has done business with, he declined to do so. Instead, he referred me to his company's website.

Caller said her name was Amanda Roy and she was a producer working for Hugh Downs on a PBS show about healthcare. We checked this out and to the best of our knowledge can confirm this is also a scam. It appears to be related to the same "media production" company operating in Deerfield Beach Florida and Coral Springs, Florida. They have operated under many different aliases, and recently settled with the Florida Attorney General's office for their scame operation, but still are operating the same way in light of this settlement. They are currently in litigation with Greg Gumbel who filed suit for misrepreseantion. This suit filed on March 31, 2009 is still ongoing.

That a very decent post RJM not many people posting here that are willing to admit when they're wrong. It's nice to see some responsible posters and I'm glad this is not a scam and it is a legitimate company.

I have to admit the few negative and "specific details" actually made me curious, so I did something most people were unwilling to do and I called them back.... Yes it's true... I make a decisions based on my own judgment and not those of an obviously disgruntled ex-employee.

I'll let you know how my conversation goes.

Finally!! I was beginning to wonder when VT Media, Vision Media, Heroes of Hope, Giving Back, Platinum Group, et al. was going to make an appearance! Good to see the scammers are back doing what they do best -- misleading people.

All the info posted comes from people who worked there briefly... then quit in disgust once they figured out they were just scamming people. Remember, it's a semantics game. Think "distributed to."

If you're one of those suckers who still is on the fence about whether its a scam or not (and don't be mad, without these people there would be no scam) -- I suggest you give Greg Gumbel's or Michael Douglas' people a call. They'll fill you in -- seeing how both of them sued these scumbags.

Sr. VP of a community bank
Received a message from Kate Larson, assistant to Alex Barry, producer of Business Trends.  Left the call back number above with an ext 222.  Wanted an interview for an upcoming series on "the power of relationship banking".  It seemed very odd, so prior to returning the call, I did a little internet research and found this site.  Needless to say, I will not be returning the call now.

Also received a call from Linda Gibbs (754-367-1196) although the call came from 954-427-1802 (Ken Galligan). Feature story for Fox News and CNBC, b.s.
Message mentioned Business Trends and sent me to their website businesstrendstv.com.
Look at businesstrendstv.com and VTMedia.tv - look familiar? They are the same site, but changed business name. None of the links actually go anywhere - it is a site set up to impress and doesn't even have meta tags for search engine optimization.
Further investigation - Linda Galligan is associated with VT Media. Coincidence? I think not.
By the way, they got my name through my recent press release which looks to be their latest resource for finding suckers. Why do they need to constantly change their business name, television show, last name, and phone numbers if they are legit? My guess is so they can try to keep covering their trails. Pays to do research on any unsolicited calls/emails before you pay to play.

I get these type of calls all the time - My PR firms calls it PAY TO PLAY.    All of the above is true.

I have taken the stance to call them back (even leave a message on their machine) and let them know up front we are happy to do interviews with legitimate news agencies, but are not in a position to pay any productions fees.  This gets rid of all calls like this pretty quickly and allows you to work with legitimate sources if that is the case.

Oh BTW - Chances are if you never heard of the TV show, it doesn't exist and especially not to anyone you want to market to.

Legitimate reporters don't interview you first to see if you qualify for a story, they do a little more research before calling.

Legitimate news reporters are more than happy to talk to the PR firm, the advertising or marketing group and do not insist on talking directly with the CEO to set up an interview.

If it looks like a fish, smells like a fish and talks like a fish....well, you know....

Did they extend an offer to be on the program? These outfits work with hundreds of companies - initial calls are nothing more than exploratory. Perhaps they backed off because you gave the impression of trying to force your way onto their show.
