The voicemail says the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you.

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.   Block and ignore.   DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!

IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.  IRS has enough administrative authority under the IRS Code and related regulations to collect all taxes lawfully due the federal government.     Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest as related to ordinary tax disputes.  Having a deficiency in taxes owed by way of audit is NOT a crime.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Got a call with the same recorded message in Maryland today.

Just 10min before, I got a voice message to my number saying "IRS is planning a lawsuit against you, please call 562-475-8779." I returned the call just curious to know what was it. After long wait , a lady picked up my call and asking my full name and address details. I refused to provide them and asking her to provide more details about the issue with my Tax returns .... she got pissed off. saying that they sent 2 letters to me earlier regarding the issue and didn't receive any response from me. If I don't provide my details over phone, then IRS will send arrest warrant to me. I felt and knew this is scam call, so I said to her to proceed whatever she want to do and send police to my home, I will face it , lets not disturb me over phone. Then she was asking from which number I got this call to verify it .... by the time call got disconnected. This is absolutely scam call , so please don't be panic and don't provide any of your personal details to them.

got the same call and number.  going to file law suit.  checked with irs it is a scam.  report it to irs 18003664484. this was given to me by irs employee

Called and said " This is the IRS and we've been trying to reach and is your final call, that you are being sued, and to call 562-475-8779 back right away."

I received a threatinh can about I owe $7000 to to IRS for an audit on my taxes for fauding the government in 2009. I didnt even get back a $1000 on my tax return how do I owe this.
This company is harrasing me

Thanks everyone!  Have gotten these calls before from other numbers.  Also ones stating they are from U.S. Treasury with similar messages.  So I wrote up my own official sounding speel claiming I was the real, fill in the blank here,  and they would be indicted.  Amazingly the calls stopped for awhile!  They must be busy today from the posts here calling In rapid succession.

Somebody name William called me and ask for my first  name and last name. He said I am calling you for a lawsuit against you from the IRS.

Voice mail left says IRS is filing a lawsuit.  I don't know why....they already took everything!!!   It is a scam.
