Called asking for credit card information saying they were from windows and I had a virus on my computer. I contacted hp and windows they have no connection to this number.

I had a called saying I had an infected computer.  They could fix all for the credit card charge for $$$$$$$

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected-corrupted scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

I just received the same call and he told me the same story. I pressed him for his supervisor's name and he told me that only God would be able to help me when my system crashed. I told him that last time I check God did not work on computers. Be careful.

Got a call from this number saying they are from Windows and my computer crashed. They kept telling me to get in front of my computer screen, we have 3 computers so that makes no sense. He did connect us to a supervisor but kept feeding the same bs. If this number calls you and says they are from Windows HANG UP!!

I received a call from a blocked number from man claiming to be "David Jones" from "Microsoft Windows Service Center," saying my computer is infected and has been sending out spam for the past few days.  Obviously a scam call.  I asked him to confirm that he works for Microsoft.  He said his company name again.  I asked for his company phone number.  He told me 567-244-4191.  I demanded to be put on the do not call list. He mumbled something. I demanded several times that he acknowledge my request.  He did not, and kept repeating himself regarding his claim that my computer was infected.  I demanded to speak to his supervisor.  Then he began saying obscene things.  I have reported this as an obscene call to LAPD and am about to report it as unwanted telemarketing to the FTC.

I got this call as well, I told him I was in front of my computer, he told me to hit windows buuton and r, I told him I did, but when I did, my computer just crashed, I blamed him for it.  He got mad and start telling me f*ck you, over and over.  I told him this must be the only American word he knows.....They are full of it !!!

I received a call from a gentleman (!???) with thick and heavy Indian accent. He was claiming that my computer is sending out something.  His accent was so heavy that I could not make much sense of it.  He said his name was MICHAEL!  I told him his name doesn't fit his accent.... he went on blabbering something that I did not understand. Any way I asked him for his company name. He gave me ETechro (no such company exists by the way) and he also gave me his phone # which is 567-244-4191. I didn't use all 4 letter words I knew last night but, if he calls again that is what I will do. I recommend you do the same.  By the way, tell every one  you know about this.

Got the call from an Indian accent claiming he worked for microsoft and my computer was infected, told to press the windows key and R key at the same time then put in eventvwr and run it. Shows errors on your computer. Then tried to connect me remotely to work on computer. This is a SCAM!

April 4 2012 I also received a call from this number. Again the heavy Indian accent.  'James Martin' warned me that my computer was sending out error messages and it was going to crash.  I turned over control of my computer to him and he showed me all the 'fatal' error messages and that at any time I would see a blue and black screen which would mean that my computer had crashed and all my important documents, photos and such would be lost.  He said that he was from 'Windows Service Center' and could install spyware and remove all error messages on my computer for the low, low price of 139.00 for the year.  I agreed.  He took about an hour and 'cleaned' my computer.  In August,2012 I received another phone call saying that my computer was sending out error messages and he was there to help me.  I told him that I had already bought protection through 'Windows Service Center' for the year.  'Bob' was mortified and said that I was scammed, that there was another company out there posing as 'Windows Service Center', and for me to contact my bank and get my money back.  He then talked me into (yes, can you believe it) out of another 139.00 for a years worth of computer maintenance.  At least this one has a web site you can go to: etechpro.com.  Again he took about another hour on my computer 'fixing' all my problems.  Well, now my name is in the fish bowl labeled 'sucker fish' as I received ANOTHER phone call yesterday, Oct 25th, doing the same song and dance routine.  You will all be proud of me....I listened and then hung up without saying another word.
