As someone who used to work at a call center: To those who think "they will have a visit from the authorities" are 100% incorrect. So don't waste your time thinking you're doing anything good. It's their job, if it were in fact illegal, they wouldn't be working at it. The cops won't come, they will actually - and I have heard this from police - laugh very hard at you calling them. Which also, most people this ignorant don't understand is that you literally just have to tell them to never call you again - and boom! it's all over with! But that's too simple for most people.

Shelby, we have told them to stop calling and they just keep on doing it and as a person who used to work at a call center you are part of the problem...!!!!!

I worked at an insurance call center.  We did not call anyone until they entered their phone number on 'ANY' web site asking for info.  As soon as you type it, we see it. If someone said put me on your do not call list, we would. If they said stop calling my cell phone, we would stop.  Legal call centers have to follow the rules. Unfortunately most illegal telemarketers are from overseas (India & Pakistan) today.  Any reply to me will be ignored.

I'd rather see everyone that gets a call from them start calling them back 10 or 20 times for each call they get.  Don't say anything, just call and waste their time, deny service to their phones.

They called me today about financial student loan

Same thing!  I once read about "a guy" who programmed his phone to continuously redial a 1-800 number from which he kep being harrassed, which at the time apparently would run up the phone charges and, as someone else suggested, would tie up the phone line.  I know it's a job, but ahve the decency to leave a message or answer.

You're probably right.    Police won't come.  The state attorney general's investigators however,   WILL come-- if enough complaints are made.

I must correct you, as I too, have worked in many call centers, and I also have a friend in the FBI. I have worked for a couple highly reputable organizations, but unfortunately, I have also, and unwittingly I might add, found myself working for unscrupulous companies. Of course, I left those jobs fairly quickly. But my main point is this: First of all, many employees working for the unscrupulous companies will stay with that company as long as they are pulling down a paycheck, regardless of legalities. Secondly, as my FBI buddy told me, whenever any company commits fraud, of any kind, whether it be face to face or over the phone, law enforcement agencies do indeed, take it seriously. So, either you work for an unscrupulous company and find nothing wrong with committing fraud. or you are highly misinformed.

Terribly sorry your life brought you to a spot that made you work in a call center but props for having a job.

Got a call on my cell phone from 585-496-4459 at 1:46 pm ET on 4/13/15. It came up as NY (USA).  I usually don't answer my cell if I am not familiar with the number.  I figure they can let a message if they really want to talk to me. No message left  so I checked the number here and decided to let a comment.

No message left, called at 12:46pm PDT on my cellphone.[ I haven't had any student loans in over 40 years !]

Oh and by the way, how many times have you asked them to stop calling and they haven't.  Has never worked for me!!!
