just rec'd call.  didn't answer, left no msg.  after reading these posts, blocked the number.

Caller ID "Attica NY" ... MAY 30 at 3:27pm Eastern time. This call ended after one ring. It may have been blocked by a free service I subscribe to which is available to most Internet-based VoIP phone service users(I have Time Warner). Google "No more robocalls" to get more information. Probably an indication that the number was spoofed, taking advantage of the insecurity of the Call-ID protocol.  Your caller-ID box is probably better than most if it picked this up.

Received a call today from this number. A very aggressive and pushy person saying he was collecting money for the Police fund. What fund is this and do they call for collections ? I hung up. I do not give to anyone over a phone call, ever. This stuff is shady, annoying and should be banned.

I checked my local precincts. The police do not call for any donations, if anything, you will receive a little envelope in the mail from your local PBA (which I do receive) and it will have your name on it. If you are suspicious, just call your local precinct to verify.
