587 288 9170 called, i never answer calls that are not in my address book. caller never left a message & when i called back hours later i was put on a waiting list saying that "they are experiencing a high volume of calls"

i put it on my blocked call list after no one answering after 8 minutes

587-288-9170 same thing. I have what I thought was a new number. Spam/automated calls coming from every part of the country

The only way to get a "new" number is if you get one in a newly created area code due to a area code split or overlay.  Otherwise, your "new" number is somebody else's "old" number.  All phone numbers are recycled.  And, any references on the internet that connect "your" number to the people that once had it as "their" number, are pretty much there forever.
Usually, calls aimed at the people that previously had a number decrease over time.
