- AllenReceived a call from 602-572-2300. A gentleman asked for some personal information like DOB and Health Insurance Information. The call was from Phoenix. I asked what he wanted and he said he had information on my recent Imaging Study. I asked him what study and he said he couldn't tell me unless I gave him my info. He said he already had it but he wanted to verify it was me. I don't know if the guy is for real or not. Someone random from half a continent away calls and asks for personal info, I'm not giving it. If he had my file including my number then that's the most they'll ever get from me. To many people running scams. Obviously there is no way for me to verify who he is. My medical records are now available online including lab results and imaging studies with my health network. He said my Dr. has already been provided this information. After I hung up, I called my Dr. and they have no idea what it was about or who it was. They had no new information in my file. If this was a real and legitimate person from a legitimate company, they need to find a new way of operating. You have to be crazy to give people your personal information over the phone to some random caller who is out of state or even in state.
- RichardI received a call but no one was on the other line.
I would like to point out, after reading some of the other comments, that I have been having some medical work done the last two weeks - including "imaging" (which I have seen mentioned twice above). So, it is quite possible that this is a legitimate 3rd party company. - MichaelThree calls in the past two days. I don't answer and they never leave a message. If this is a legitimate medical service they should be leaving a message and then verifying when someone calls back.
- Pamthey called me claiming it was regarding pre-authorization when I asked for what they refused to say unless I gave them my dob told them no I since I can't verify who I am speaking with they said I can give you a # to call (sure you can - as fake as the pre-authorization request!) I politely terminated the call
- SanThey called a total of 3 times...i kept ignoring the call and finally blocked the number. All three times they left no voicemail. It had to be a person because immediately after ignoring the call, they called right back.
- Dr. BondThis is NIA (national imaging associates), a radiology authorization company. It is legit. Ok to answer. Works under Magellan Healthcare as well as other insurances.
- Caller: NIA
- Call type: Valid

- AdrienneThis number is for Magellan Healthcare, which also goes by the name NIA. NIA stands for National Imaging Associates and they are a 3rd party company hired by all the Health Plans to handle the authorizations for Imaging of any kind, surgery, and all kinds of therapy. They are a legit company just calling to give authorization or denial information. They ask you to verify your DOB and complete address with zip code because they cannot give out any HIPAA information until they can confirm they have the correct party on the line. They cannot give you this information to confirm, because that would be a violation of HIPAA.
- Caller: Magellan Healthcare
- Call type: Valid
- IdontthinksoI received two calls this morning, one at 9:21 and the other at 10:29am. The first was a woman "Kate" and the second "Steven", a customer care coordinator. They both said they were calling in regards to my health benefits. They both instructed me to call 800-424-4952 and to have my "member id card" available when I call. I don't think so. If they were calling to speak to me, they would have stated my name and what this is about. That would not be a violation of HIPAA. So, for the fools out there that want to call them back, go for it. Until I receive a letter in the mail, this is not a call I will take. This is some sort of scam or solicitation. Getting through to my "healthcare provider" is a headache to begin with. I find it hard to believe that they have staff to hound me first thing in the morning.
