    Cold Calling

Haha with resorting to making fun of me for a spelling error, and consequently taking no time to actually address my argument, my last word becomes quite clear...

    Validation..

    Thanks!!

Probably Cold Calling you right now!

The gentlemen did address my original argument concerning cold calling. Then when I decided to retort, he was all of a sudden above the situation.

I did make a mistake coming on here and voicing my opinion, however.

Once I received a response, I had assumed that I would learn something about why cold calling is "dishonest," and used by "scumbags" and "lowlifes." I was incorrect. I wrongly assumed that when one uses such cutting remarks, that they have been hurt deeply enough to be able to recount the mistreatment they received and analyze it in the scoope of moral discourse.

I had looked it from the perspective that there were folks even on a "Harassed by phone calls" website that could formulate cohesive and coherent arguments. I was mistaken.

I should have assumed that, much like the rest of conversation that goes on with in society, that its just arbitrary chatter, truly based on nothing more than a series of situational emotional shortcomings.

I should be grateful, however, as even with in the constructs of continued ignorance, I have found a way to learn something. So for that, again, I thank you.

    You as well, Hamsterdance.

    The windbag's retort
Funny how, yet again, the strategy is to address spelling, and not logic..

    noted...

By the way, how is your righeous crusade against cold calling going? A real validation of your life's work I am certain.

Well I've got to run, I'm going to go light up some phones...

Tech Buyer replies to Cold Calling
If it were just one cold call and they listened it would be different.  PC Connection does not listed and they keep calling and calling and calling and calling and calling and calling and calling.  At what point is enough enough?  You have to get rude so they will stop calling and you can get back to doing your job.  I am tired of wasting my time telling them not to call and we are just going to block their number from our phone system.  Enough is enough from these guys.

Cold calling is annoying when you tell the person several times to stop calling and they don't.   Next time tell them you will turn them over to the FCC for not heading the national DO NOT CALL list and requirements.  Cold Calling--if you read the post they are frustrated cause this company does not stop calling even after they have been told to do so.

Ok OK, Let's stop the Madness.

If you got a call from PC Connection, it means you are an IT or Purchasing professional. So it is your job to take phone calls from vendors. So quit whining.

A "vendor" is someone you do business with.

A "clown" is someone who interrupts your work with a cold call because they don't have a product they can market through ethical means.

Guess which category YOU fall into!

PC Connection - a man named Jason keeps calling, claims to be our account rep even though we have never done any business with them.  He is pretty rude.

I finally called the number back and asked to have our number removed from their call list.  Hopefully he stops calling.

Ok let's talk about your logic for a second.

"A vendor is someone you do business with"  OK I agree with that, and a Cold call is a solitation for business, How would you create a new business relantionship if you don't call someone for the first time. It has to start somewhere.

I don't even know how to respond to the Clown argument, PC Connection is a Fortune 1000 company in business since 1984, Guess which category YOU fall into.

Businesses can get around the Do Not Call list in a variety of ways. If you have ever ordered from them in the past, they're excluded. If they're a non-profit they're excluded, etc.

Now, if they're calling you after you have ordered them to stop, there are other laws they are violating. If you request that they stop calling and remove you from their list, and they do not, they are in violation of Federal Law (but not the Do Not Call Registry).

Please file a complaint with the FCC directly if any telemarketer has failed to comply with your wish to no longer be contacted.

Called three times within five minutes without leaving messages. Picked up the last time to ask the repeat dialer to discontinue calling. She has called on other days with the same frequency. Hope this will stop these annoying calls.

Got Justin from PC Connection as well. I transferred him to our operations manager's VM. He was actually very polite. I did tell him that we are in contract with a gentleman that is a friend of the OM, and most likely will not be going else where. I will ask the OM if she is interested at all in speaking with Justin next time he calls and if not, I will politely tell him that. At that point the calls really do need to stop, otherwise that is when I become super annoyed....

Whenever we get one of these calls, we forward it to a fictitious employee that is "the person responsible" for EVERYTHING in the office. This guy handles everything from cleaning services to venture capital offers. Of course, he's so busy with all his responsibilities that he's never able to answer his phone, so the calls always go to voicemail. I do listen to them in case a legit call gets through, but 99% of them are crap.

The funny this is, we even had one or two people show up at our front door claiming they had an appointment with "Tom Anderson."
