Got calls

Got a call, picked up and no one there.

Got a call and it stopped after only 3 rings.

Just called here - also hangup after three rings. Couldn't even get to phone in time.

"Canadian Readers" scammers selling discounted magazines.  Play dumb.  Can't hear you. Speak up! Hello?  Get them to repeat as much as possible?  Answer no to everything.  Finally told them I don't read.  Well how about your loved ones?  I'm alone I said. haha  Kept persisting.  Said I don't read - I am blind.   Said he would call again.   Waste as much of their time as possible, I had him going for at least 20 minutes.

Got a call - answer machine started and then went dead.  How on earth can we stop this crap!

Got a call, picked up and nothing. called twice in about 15 minutes.

Got a call.  I didn't pick up.  No message left.  Very annoying.

When Answered nobody there and wouldn't say anything

Canadian Readers just called. Didn't leave a message. Called the number back and it said, "No one is here to take your call" and hung up. No chance to leave a message. Dumb.

Got a Call from 604-229-9636  Once while I was away and Today when I was out my friend answered and head an accent - Not sure who it was

Really - telephone garbage on Sunday too!  Can't they at least stick to the week days?  Grrrrrr

Rec'd call this morning.  I let it go to answering machine.  No message left.

So I did a Google search for "Canadian Readers", based on previous comments.  I found this rather dubious looking website:

It looks like they built their website from a template they found somewhere.  It's basically just window dressing - there's NO content.  They do give an address on their "Contact Us" page but there's no phone number.  When you click "Browse Magazines", you are instead prompted to give your account number.

These [***] call several times a day and do not leave a message.  I am trying to resist picking up and wasting my time and energy on them but sooner or later they will get to me and I will probably give them an earful or waste as much of their time as they have of mine by playing with them like a cat plays with a mouse and stringing them along for as long as possible...

For this number the carrier is iristel ltd out of ontario 1-866-779-4747. i called and they said they would contact the company and have them quit calling..its harassment  under thier own policy, look it up i did and call them..we will see..

Company listed on caller ID Iristel.INC. trying to call families without Dental Insurance. When asked how did they know if I didn't have insurance they responded with We just call individual families about dental insurance. When I said we were on a no call list all I got was laughter.

Just called. I let it go to VM. They didn't leave a msg.  I blocked the number.

really pushy. tried selling me dental insurance. judging by this history, must be a scam

The National "Do Not Call" list is a joke and the joke is on us! The inability of the Conservative Government to adequately and effectively legislate against these intrusions is farcical. And the collusion of the phone companies makes the scammers and spammers jobs so much easier. As long as they pay their phone bills, they will continue to operate untouched. If the scammers were reported as offering child pornograhy it wouldn't be a question of if, but when the requisite legislation would be put in place to stop this criminal activity!
