- steve| 1 replyokay people this is how it works:
they are calling just to see if somebody picks up (live caller) if they get a live caller, there job is done, they now put your # on a list of other #'s where people who picked up the phone and this list is SOLD to the highest bidder. this is why you get so many scammers calls because you keep answering call from #'s you don't know and your # get sold again and again..- Caller: scammer
- Tygerkat replies to steveReally?! "SOLD to the highest bidder"?! Why on Earth would scammers pay for phone numbers when all they need to do is program their robo-dialler to call all numbers in a given sequence?

- LNS| 1 replySame no message & hang up from 605-229-9964, It appears from my experience when one disconnects or cancels their phone number, the Robo-caller's computer picks up these disconnected numbers and then uses them as spoofed robo-caller numbers. This especially happens with 800 series toll free numbers, so these disconnected number can be trolled. Our major land line telephone & mobile phone companies have the technologies to prevent this, but they do not want to expend dollars in that direction especially to stop local & international inbound organized crime callers.
- Caller: no name, Aberdeen, SD.
- BigA replies to LNSSo tell me then how is it that so many numbers that are actually connected get spoofed if they only spoof disconnected lines? Tell us how they get a list of the disconnected lines to begin with? Try not to drink the Kool-Aide next time.
- Kittyyep, exactly what they did to me too. they call from "Aberdeen, SD" and then when i answered all i got was silence, i finally hung up on them. only reason i answered is because i thought it might actually be an important call as i live in SD. i normally dont answer phone much due to all the spammers.
