I had the same thing happen but the funny thing was they asked for Mr. (My common law wifes last name) and everything is registered under my name. When asked about any info on my computer who ever the woman that called was said she had no info. She asked me to put in a command to check the events my computer has run. I had time so I played along. Anyways the call was so bad she was telling me that one event was a hacker in my computer when it really was a google update. It was hard to keep from laughing at that point. So anyways just please be careful. The number that called me was 6077239891

This scam has spread to Vancouver BC. They just called me and and said they were from Microsoft and that i had a virus and that they would fix it for free. I asked them if they were from a charity because no one does things for free. After a little pause the guy with a very heavy Indian accent said the service was free. I pretended to follow his instructions, never entered anything into my computer. After i asked if i can call them back to verify the info he gave me a tel ph number 50 59089506 and said he was calling from UK. I started to laugh and told him it was impossible since area code for UK is 44, told him he was a scammer and hung up on him. This is the second time since May that they called me. Be aware. Those people are trained to get what they want and some people may really fall for their scam

They are still out there.  I got a phone call from a female wanting to fix the errors on my computer, and that they were seeing a lot of errors.  She initially said Windows support team, but had a different company name.  This phone number is from New York area, but the girl sounded Indian or Pakistani.  Looks like phishing to get onto computers and plant bugs.

They told me that my computer was corrupted. They were from windows service centre. Told them never to call again or ill report them. They hung up on me.

Took me 5 minutes to even understand who was calling me, their english was VERY poor. Same deal, calling with Windows......seriously buddy? You mean the software on my hardware has it's own call centre and they are calling me personally....WOW!........bunch of idiots. I asked him which IP address he was calling about, or which computer in our house he was calling about......no answer.......kept wanting me to run an admin file, yeah right, like I am going to give you admin access to my system!
What a waste of time!!!!

Just got a call from here...live in Canada...get on it RCMP...said they were calling from Microsoft and that there was something wrong with my computer...I asked what and he said...hard to tell until I look at your computer...I said...you must be kidding...Microsoft would never have this number as a contact for me...He called me a "mother F*****", and hung up....NICE!

Got the same type of call from that number - SCAM SCAM SCAM.

Right after i say magic words - who are you and where did you get my number - they hung up. Those words work like a charm - if they can't answer that - it's a scam.

Same questions - something is up with your PC... bla bla bla...

I just call a call yesterday.  The guy said he was working with windows 7 and my computer was sending systems errors.  I hung up he called and left a message.  He was very rude saying someone hacked my computer and stole my identity then he called me a studpid bird...not happy at all

I keep getting calls from this number. Hard to understand the man, as he has a heavy accent and the connection is not good. He doesn't tell me why he is calling.

Told him yes and I was busy so I Told him
That i'll call him later .. But they told me
They were Microsoft in Winnipegg , Canada  
And they would call me at 4..
So I called at my internet compagnie and he told me
they were hacker ...
Got the call back at 3:50pm Told me the same scrap..
I told them to call my internet compagnie and they hang up on me..

East Indian man said he was from microsoft and our computer was full of malicious stuff. If. We did not cooperate, we would get a $500 fine from microsoft, so we hung up.

calls me too in toronto canada .4 times today alone from 2 numbers.mostly they dont say nothing & after a bit of time you hear "goodbye"

my 4yr old son picked up the phone b4 my wife could get it and he was like "hello" then my wife answered & she herd them telling off my 4yr old boy then told off my wife when she asked them what they think they are doing telling off my son.

Getting bogus calls from "payphone:.

A man with an East Indian accent called today and said he was calling from Windows because my computer is downloading some corrupt files.  I hung up immediately.    The call display gave his number but only said "New York" not his name.

Just called Verizon and they said this hasn't been a Verizon number since 2010 so they can't do anything about it.

I saw I had a call from this phone number while I was away last night. It is listed as "Pay Phone" on my caller ID.

From what everyone else on here has been saying - I may have gotten a call from them a couple of weeks ago that I did answer. Telling me that my computer was sending out error messages and they were calling from support to help fix my computer. I told them I didn't have a computer - and that completely threw them off. They asked if someone else in my household had a computer. I told them no one here had a computer. It definitely sounded like a scam, so I thought it would be fun to play with them a little.

Just got a call from 607-324-9764. It came up as Payphone on the caller ID. I didn't pick it up and they didn't leave a message.

SCAMMER ...Yes  I received call fr  this # , foreign accented male , said he was from microsoft and there was problem with my computer,  me being upset about some items, since i was on my computer at time, let him talk me into  my computer ....then him telling me i needed a new security system or my system would crash....I  REFUSED HUNG UP, CALLED computer person   I know said  i was scammed  Microsoft doesnot call people ... had  to redo  my security on computer ..etc......LESSON LEARNED ...HANGUP ON  THEM

We keep getting calls from these #s...... use to be that they would say they were from Windows, but today they said they were from Social Security (heavy accent) and something about a check. SO, seems like they are trying different scams in order to fool people... Hope the elderly people they will try to scam aren't fooled... so many are, unfortunately.

They've spread their wings to Amsterdam too, unfortunately...
