- VinnyCID: Hammonton, NJ it is a credit card scam
- Caller: Hammonton, NJ
- Bear59These people keep calling under different south NJ numbers. Any company that calls and leaves an autobot voicemail about saving money on your electric bill and changes their number to limit their exposure on 800 notes has too much potential of being a scam. Made the mistake of answering once and questions were a bit too sensitive in nature.

- Hott in NJThis is a scam. They claim to want to change your energy provider, but then they want credit card numbers, social security number, etc. I like to have fun with these people. I asked her "Can I shock my balls with it?" She was none too pleased with that little question, but I got a good laugh out of it.

- Aylagh MacAnnadh| 1 replyKeeps calling with offer to save me up to 25% on my electric bill. Asked her if there was a similar discount on my gas bill. She told me they only do the electric bill. WOAH! SCAM! NJ PSE&G covers gas AND electric, PSE&G stands for "Public Service Electric & Gas". Companies who compete with them since they deregulated must offer the same service. For some reason I'm getting a lot of these calls. They're from different numbers in Central & South Jersey not because they are one company but there are so many different companies. I do think this one was a scam though because she was trying to tell me they only did the 'electric' part of your bill and PSE&G would still be doing the gas part. These people are so desperate for your business they week come to your door and talk to you about it and offer you a free subscription to a number of different. The sneaky thing they do is ask you to sign a paper (in triplicate!) Just saying you were told about the service but turned it down. My youngest son signed it not realizing he'd been had since my husband read the paper and it was a signature approving change of service. Thankfully you've 3 days to change your mind so I reported them to PSE&G along with our state & local police.

- K P replies to Aylagh MacAnnadhI signed up for one of these companies (not necessarily the one here whose call I didn't answer) that claimed to save me money. I think they may have saved money at first, but after a while when I wasn't paying attention they jacked up the rate to well over what my original company was charging. I don't even know how long they'd been charging me the high rate. I didn't really want to know. I just switched back. But in the long run I suspect PSE&G or JCP&L or whoever the dominant provider is, will likely charge competitive rates. If you want to save money you need to keep an eye on your bill and be ready to change providers right away when the rates rise.
