- JasonJust called asking for a member in my house hold. Told them they were out at the moment and asked if they would like to leave a message. She cheerfully said "no," when i asked what the call was about, she replied "It's for a survey, i can only tell ~family member's name~."
She even told me that my member in my house hold has done business with them.
What a crock.- Call type: Survey
- GK| 3 repliesmake sure when requesting to be taken off of a calling list, regardless of whom they may be, make sure you make it very clear that you wish this to be permanent. I have heard, unfortunately not verified, that unless stated to be removed PERMANENTLY, calls may legally resume in approximately 6 months. i don't want the hassle or take the chance, so i firmly state this with every unwanted marketing or scam phone call.
- Maggie replies to HATE SPAM CALLS| 1 replyJust got a call from (613)230-2890 said they were calling from Scotia bank and they wanted me to do a survey, I hate it when these idiots call and they can't even pronounce your name!!!!! Needless to say, he was given a not so warm greeting!!!!

- Ken O'Regan replies to nuheart96For mobile phones the best option is to add it to your contact list with the name " DO NOT ANSWER"; if they call back just look who is calling!
I wish someone would create a DO NOT ANSWER website contact list ...my cell phone directory is relatively empty and could use populating. - SnafujafoThey called 3 days ago for my daughter who just got here. The only person who knew was her ex. I said she was not here. They called a day later as we tried to brainstorm who it was. At 2 am this morning I got on line and looked up the number and was directed here. I was intrigued by what I read! I then went to bed and had a dream about them calling and me busting them and demanding to be placed on their 'do not call list'. Low and behold...10 am this morning who should call? Yes indeed!
I answered and the troll on the other end asked again for my daughter.
I said:
" you are a survey company!"
Troll said:
"alright...bye"
I wonder if they will try a different number.- Caller: 613-230-2890

Did you even bother to look at the top of the page, to see the ONTARIO location of the disputed number? - c12347 replies to GK| 2 repliesI believe that current legislation, in Canada, requires that they keep and maintain that request for a period of 3 years, but I will check....hold on.
Yes, Part III Sec 8 of the UNSOLICITED TELECOMMUNICATION RULES requires a company to:
A telemarketer initiating a telemarketing telecommunication on its own behalf shall maintain its own do not call list and shall keep a consumer's name and telecommunications number on the list for a period of three (3) years and thirty-one (31) days from the date of the consumer's do not call request.

I am not sure what the rules in the US are, but since this number is in Canada (Ontario), they should be aware of the laws here (at least). - tantrictim| 1 replyi think they are "skip tracers" for a collection agency based in Ottawa
- Numpol replies to B| 3 repliesThis web site was also weird. I was required to enter my phone number. Once the area code, that was 778 for a BC's mobile phone, was entered, the system only asked me to correct it. It was correct, therefore, there was not anything I could correct. Finally, I gave up registering my number.
- MoFoCalled today on Sunday. WTF is up with that. Stop calling my business line, it is like someone gave away my business line in the last few months and now I get all these calls to the number. Annoying.

- Opinion search employee| 4 repliesReading through these posts is hilarious. I work for opinion search as one of these ever so hated callers. I thought I'd give a little insight. 1. We do surveys studies and polls 2. We never sell anything (in fact, some surveys offer a cash incentive just for your time. 3. If nobody answers the phone, a callback date and time is scheduled (usually around the same time on another day). 4. If all you ignorant and paranoid fools answered the phone and either a) participate in the study; or b) say that you are not interested in participating; no more calls would follow! We call so many people everyday and we can take rejection well. It's only a study. Not everyone is out to get you. Oh and no selling of Viagra is ever involved...
- lesleyrose84 replies to norrmajean| 7 repliesya they just called my cell phone today it was so bad! They said Hello with a questioning tone? That's weird. Usually when you are calling someone you dont question them they ask u stuff....I told them they had the wrong number...
- DevonI won't be quite as rude as the above guy... Just some information that might help. I also used to work for a telemarketing company (managing campaigns, occasionally calling). It's entirely likely that this number IS a number of different places. Companies subcontract to one communications firm (in our case, we handled DNC, DCCC, Habitat for Humanity, Kennedy Center, Sierra Club, etc.) Only one callback number is shown on caller ID b/c that's a direct line to the call floor, in case somebody does want to verify information with the organization. So when you call them, it may take them a bit to figure out which campaign you were listed on. To the lady who said they would only talk to her husband, companies are told by the clients ONLY to talk to the member with a previous relationship just in case there are differing opinions in the house (for instance, the DNC calling for the Democratic donor and the wife could potentially be another party member; we don't want to get the husband in trouble for making a donation). Also, the Do Not Call Registry only applied to places you haven't done business with. If you donate money to an organization, they are allowed to call you until you tell them directly that you do not want any solicitations via phone. So if you buy theater tickets, donate to medical or political non-profits, or simply write a check to a candidate, all of your information goes into their database. Finally, if you don't answer, they'll keep calling. They have no reason not to.
BTW, this number called me today. Missed the call and was just looking to see which organization it was calling. Based on the information here, I can only guess that it was a political opinion poll based on the political party I have registered with. - stop all phone surveys NOW replies to Opinion search employee| 3 repliesAH! Spoken like a dedicated professional privacy invader. You parents must be so very proud of you!
Ever get a loud whistle or airhorn in your ear? Don't know what it means? Can't guess? Call me I'll demonstrate. Of course, telescammers aren't the brightest bulbs in the room, so we may have to repeat the lesson a few times!
