They are not allowed to call you at night. It's the law,after 9 o' clock at night they are not call. If they do its considered harassment.  You have every right to sue.

I  spoke with CRA =- too many such calls to deal with on an individual basis. but there are sites you can go on and complain (see above)

I have tried phoning the number twice just to see.....the one time I phoned it rand once then I got a busy signal, the second time I phoned it was ringing about 5 times before someone hung up on me lol

Just received a recorded message. indicating that CRA was filing a lawsuit against me and that I should call them back immediately

Got a call similar to others here. It was stated that if back taxes of some 3200 and some odd dollars was not paid during this phone call the police would be arresting me today and my driver's licence and bank accounts would be seized. The only way to avoid this was to pay immediately. When I told them that I couldn't come up with that much on such short notice they demanded to know my bank balance and were willing to take whatever I had. Gotta admit they had me going, but after speaking with my MP and the real CRA, as well as the Service Canada offices here I found out that this has been going on for some time. Their methods are nasty and their response to me when I told them that I had reported them to the authorities incited them further. I was threatened in a barrage of angry tones and ultimately told quote: "You'll be sorry, motherf*@er". Wish the cops knew how to get them for uttering threats or any other means to catch the buggers!

I did call back and spoke with a woman who told me I owed taxes to the CRA for year 2008-2013.
The amount of $3,600 need to be paid as soon as possibile or I will loose everything I own.
What a dummies! I hope nobody falls into this scam!

I am at my daughters home right now consoling her from a similar incident, she did call back. I reported the scam incident to the local police here in Calgary, they are on their way out to take a report. The Calgary City Police referred me to contact the RCMP Fraud Dept. at 1 (888) 495-8501. I suggest you call and report this incident.

I just rec'd a call from this # 613 518 8031 and same message above. A lawsuit has been filed against me. Call back for more details. I almost had a heart attack and I can see how people can fall for it. I googled the area code and it was Ottawa so I became further stressed. I put in the # and it brought me to this page. Thank goodness! I don't know what to do, call police? Call the newspaper? I really don't want others to get scammed.

Indian or Pakistani tax scammer/extortionists, I get those calls here in California  all the time.  No way to stop them but a call blocker can be of some assistance.

Not much anyone can do.  They are located in Pakistan or India and beyond the reach of anyone's law.  The local governments don't do much of anything to close down the illegal call-centers.  Protect yourself iwth a call blocker.  Not a complete solution, but it can help.  Also, don't pick up on numbers you do not recognize.

I just got a message from this number to my voice message so the start was cut off. It sounded suspicious so I did a google on the number and found this thread. Call display showed 011 61 3 5188 031 which usually means a out of country call (country code 61) but that is probably fake too.

Yes, got the same message.  Called back and they said CRA.  They hung up on me when I said this must be a hoax.  I called back and they said they were going to hang up on me again and I would be going to prison.
I am going to call CRA and report this.  Hopefully they will be going to prison for impersonating the CRA.

I just got a call, I didn't pick up & they left the same massage that CRA has a lawsuit against me. I googled the number sure enough it brought me to this page and I felt relieved. I called back and a man with an East Indian accent answered, when I said that they're scam and I'm going to report them he called me b..ch and hung up.

Got the same call with same message, except the number was 613-518-8032. Liked reading this page though. I know to ignore it....

just received a call from 613-518-8031. The recording said this was the final attempt at calling.  I owed taxes and if I didn't pay up immediately CRA would would sue and to call the above number back so that i can start paying back the monies owed.
