Hi,I had a voicemail message left for me today.It was an automated female msg.I had a hard time making out,but the gist of it was some"hotline"CRA I think,was gonna prepare a case against me or my identity.I panicked and deleted the msg .The area code was 613.Stupid me forgot to write down the #.Then I googled phone scams in Calgary wich led to this blog.Does this sound like your call?I don't think it was legit,but I am a little worried. I received a call from the above number.  For some reason, I decided to answer and got an automated echo like call from CRA stating they had been trying to get me for some time and this was the last time or I was going to be facing unhappy consequences, which at that point I hung up  Why are these calls allowed to get through to people?  They are so annoying and for older people may lead to being scammed or frightened causing a health problem.

Yes, same here, a recording saying CRA is starting a lawsuit against you. Yeah Right, not likely!

I pressed *69 to get the last number that called my line it was from 613-518-8031

Don't be worried Bob! Just google the phone #, 613-518-8031 and it will show you it was a total scam. Have peace of mind!

That just happened to us.  The phone message was sent on Sunday and I know the government would never leave a message like that.  Thankfully they are not that bright.  BEWARE!

Got a message from this number telling me that CRA was filing a law suit against me and that I should call them back.

Harassing me with unwanted phone calls

Spent a few moments sending them out of their minds.  Great fun telling them false names and giving them numbers for pizza joints.  When they realize this they start screaming and swearing in Urdu.  It's quite rude.  I advise everyone receiving these calls to do the same.

Received voice mail from 613 518 8032 said I was being sued by CRA.  At first i was scared but started thinking about it and realized not legit.

I received a call from this number, no msg.  so I called it back and a guy answered saying hello I asked who they were and what was the call about he stated that.they were closed and to call back tomorrow between 8 and 5 . I googled the number and found this, thank you everyone.
This scam sounds like the micro soft scam. They call and say you have viruses please go.to your computer and give us access,
Please don't fall for these scams, this world is going crazy. It's so.sad

The first clue is the static nature of the call. Secondly, they do not name anyone in particular. I suppose the third clue is that the Canada Revenue Agency has a 1 800 number. They would not charge a Canadian citizen a nickel for serious calls of this nature. Looks like there's another weirdo amongst us who has nothing better to do than try to scare and scam the innocent and naive. DO NOT pay a moment's notice to this call.

Called to say a lawsuit was being taken against me by CRA. To add insult to injury, it was at 6.15am.

Yes I got a call from this number as well. It just has to be a prank or something. Isn't it?

Ha I just got a broken automated call from this number 613-518-8031 and they said I have a lawsuit filed against me from the CRA, why don't know tried to call it rang 70 times then went busy, well if it was GOVERNMENT they would have had an answering machine so [***] them!

I got the same call from 16135188031, telling me that CRA is sueing me, I did not answer the call, and check this number in the website, and yes it's a scam! So beware of this number!

I received a phone call today and like many of you it freaked me out listening to the automated voicemail.  I do owe the CRA money however communication is done by mail and through a collections (REAL) person that has an office number.  I am SO happy to read these posts...I have now call blocked this number...I cannot believe what people will go through to scam innocent people.  I hope they get caught!!

I have been getting these prank calls for months now.  What bothers me is that the govt does not do anything about it.  The govt talks about all sort of security issues but these crooks shamelessly have made a farce of Stephen Harper's administration. Where is CRA? Where is RCMP? Where is Fraud prevention agency?
