Scam. Left an authoritative machine recorded message saying they had tried to reach me for days, there was a lawsuit filed against me by the CRA with an arrest warrant and l had to call that number. Yeah, right.

I received the same recorded message.  I'm sure the CRA would have no trouble reaching me if they really had to.

Found a message from them on my phone when I got home from work yesterday.  Tried calling back, but the line was always busy, except for one time when I was prompted to leave a message, then promptly told that it was full so I couldn't leave one (not terribly professional).  Tried again today from my desk at work at the Canada Revenue Agency.  Got through, and a male voice informed that the CRA had filed some sort of charges against me with the RCMP, and was asked if I'd been contacted by the RCMP.  I said I hadn't, and nor had the CRA contacted me, neither at home nor at work - within the CRA.  He asked if I`d like him to forward information regarding the charges to either me or the local RCMP, and I said that if there were any actual charges, I`d like to know what they are, so send them to me.  He asked me to have paper and pen ready, and then hung up on me.  Maybe it was an accident, or maybe he didn`t want to deal with a COBOL programmer from the CRA...

Pretty sure it`s a scam.  I`ve had some minor trouble with CRA before (late filing; I guess they were tired of holding onto my couple hundred dollars), but they sent actual physical, official letters in the mail; they didn`t have mysterious third parties make ominous computerized phone calls.

I have twice tried to call back (in order to get the information about the charges filed against me, of course!), but both times the phone just rang and rang, the first time I counted about a dozen rings before hanging up, the second I counted about four before they hung up.  They haven`t put me on a block list, have they?  I'm shocked, I tell you; shocked!

Now they want ME to call them to get scammed? harharhar.... What a bunch of idiots. I've reported their numbers to the RCMP and blocked them at this end...

I just told them I only speak Francais ,,,they hung up on me😃😃😃

2nd call today on my answering machine, but not from 844-551-0570 this time.  Similar threats to earlier call, but no number indicated. Blocked again.  .

Received a message today about being arrested by RCMP if I didn't return their call within a given time. The message was very muffled so I couldn't really understand most of the message(like they were talking through something over the mouthpiece of the phone)

Had a message from C.R.A.. Couldnt under stand what they were saying. Call the number back and they Answered Canada Revenue Agency, ask where they were locate and he said in my Mom's p------. and told me to F-off. I wish the R.C.M.P. or someone will do something about this. This is the 4 or 5th time

just received the computerized voice call, very poor sound recording, claim to be CRA, I believe this is a scam and I would not call them back what if the number I call will collect charge my line instead.

Just received another phone call with the same distorted voicemail (that has the beginning cut off), threatening legal action, etc.. This is the 3rd or 4th time. Ugh.

woke up to a voicemail from these [***] clowns. hope they call back so i can curse them out. total scam/spam bs. Like others have stated...Why cant the authorities do something about these scam artists!

I just got a call too. Answered in French. They said hello. I replied in French. They hung up. This is a scam. Do not give any information.

Phone Scam according to the Police Dept.   There is an article in the Hamilton Spectator about this Scam.  Claiming to be Canada Revenue Agency asking for money.  Received a Scam call today and many times before.

Got this call on a computerized voice, heard CRA, but could not understand anything else.
For sure if you,owe money TO CRA you will a real person on the phone and statements with balance owing.

I have had several messages from these folks on this number in the past two weeks.  On some the East Indian accent is so thick as to be unintelligible.  I know CRA does not threaten people by phone.  Out of curiosity I called the number back and a similarly accented dude responded "Canada Revenue Agency".  Anyone who has ever had to contact CRA knows that you get about a half dozen sequences of Press 1, Press 2, etc before you can actually talk to an actual person.

Whether it's the real CRA or a fake CRA, either way it's attempted extortion.

I knew as soon as he spoke in a thick India accent and couldnt pronounce my last name it was scammers.

A very-poor-quality, female-voice recording, beginning with a cute musical gong and purporting to be from the Canada Revenue Agency, was left on my voicemail the evening of July 11, 2016.  The message, difficult to understand, was that an investigation had revealed I had defrauded the Canada Revenue Agency of an undisclosed amount of death-benefit money.  Absolute HOKUM. I called the number, by mistake, and was greeted by a live, male voice, with Southeast Asian accent, who asked me first for my phone number -- to which I replied with a fictitious number -- which he keyed in. He then asked me if I am Mr. XXX, and I said, "YES," in a loud, clear voice.  The line went dead. So, perhaps there is a nervous, little Dick somewhere in Bombay! And so I called the CRTC's do not call list.  Again.  The DNCL agent said the change in the extortion-based script was probably the result of some people actually calling in to the scammers' number.

I first received a message from this number (could not make it out well at all) then a call that I did answer about 3:00 July 12, 2016 babbling about a fraudulent tax return. (I think)   I simply said I don't think so and hung up.  Unfortunately or fortunately that is all I got,  When I went online to see if I could find anything out about the call and searched this number I discovered this site and thought I would report that I first got an inaudible voice message and then later the same day a call.  Obviously a scam!
