I answered my phone, though I usually do not answer numbers that I don't know, and it was an exceptionally nervous girl asking if I was still interested in applying to the OSU College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences.

Just received a call from 614-247-4642. Moments later my cell phone received a junk Email telling me how to download ring tones!

(614) 247-4642 is definitely an Ohio State University telephone number.

just got 2 calls from 614, including this number.  never went to osu, so ???

i work at osu and called my own cell phone from my work phone, and this is what showed up...it's not my phone number, so it must be a dummy osu number?

I work for Ohio State OTIS, This is the blanket OSU outbound telephone number. Don't bother calling into it though, it won't ring inbound calls.

This number is NOT an Ohio State University number! The caller ID does say "OH ST UNIV" but it is really not the school. I will be attending there in the fall, so I ran to the phone when I saw that on the caller ID...but I missed it. No message was left on the machine. When I called back it sounded like either a boy whose voice hadn't changed yet or maybe a young girl...They claimed that I called a wrong number back and they had no idea what I was talking about. I replied "Stop BSing me and don't ever call this number back again you jerk."

We received this call last night 4-13-08.  The caller ID showed Ohio State University.  My husband and I both grabbed for the phone ( our daughter is a freshman at OSU ).  We were very upset when the was no response.  It was very upsetting to both of us.  We were finally able to get a hold of our daughter and found her to be safe.

its ohio state university. it is a 'dummy' number that they put on to all of their outgoing calls. if you call back it, it won't be osu though because it is a just an outbound number.

Our daughter is a freshman at OSU and was on a leadership conference off the campus when this number called and hung up.  Obviously we were concerned and also finally got a hold of our daughter to assure us she was safe.

I also received this call and caller id said ohio state university.  I answered because my son goes to ohio state, but they asked for my husband.  They hung up on me when I asked them to leave a message.  They keep calling and my son also answered and they still ask for my husband.  I never answer anymore, but I am tempted to ask someone at OSU the next time I have a meeting there.

I called a friend from a dorm phone and his phone registered the call as this number despite the fact that I have a 614-688-xxxx number. The calls you receive could be from a variety of Ohio State places, such as someone in the dorms, or the Alumni Organization, or apparently the College of Dentistry. Calling the number back won't help as it is an outbound 'dummy' number. If you know who might have been calling you, look up their actual phone number and call them.

Got the phantom missed call last night on my cell also. I went to OSU (long time ago). No answer on call back.
