I got a call from this number stating that I was being sued and that a civil case was being brought against me in my county.

Hello, were there any actions brought against you? did they ever sue you?

I received a call from them stating; they were going to bring a civil case against me and have my wages garnish, did his ever happen to you?

they garnished my wages. im trying to see if they will do a payment plan so that they can stop taking so much out of my checks. they have taken money out of my last 3 pay periods.

Me too. I checked with courthouse and such and no cases. What a crock!

its a mortgage company. first american bank or something along the lines of that

you can goto jail for debts. if your writing checks off a closed account you can go to jail. its a misdemenor

How are they getting personnal information? The information they have on me as current is years old. They offer no other information and yet share "what information they have on you with other people" Like anyone that has answered the phone they have given what is supposed to be confidential information regarding any matter to whoever answers the phone. Last time I check that is a Federal Offense and it's a felony. any one have info or a name that was given by the said collector?

My wages have been garnished and they put a suspension on my license. After they told me all the info they had on me, I was put on the phone with the attorney. He sounded dumb so I hung up. I got pulled over last week for speeding and found my license suspended. When I finally made it to work, I found garnishment papers waiting for me at HR. I called and talked him down to $150 from $1,039.

Then you are not going to jail for being in debt...you are going to jail for passing bad checks. HUGE difference. You can not go to jail for being in debt. Nice try.

If there is a court ordered garnishment, they can only take up to 25%. If there is no court order, then you can make them stop. You have to go to court before a garnishment can be enforced.

This is all a lie. If there is a court garnishment order in place as would have to be the case according to your tale, they are NOT going to lower the amount as they will get ALL of what they want through the garnishment.

I called an attorney who told me to file a complaint with the FTC.. they can be fined $1,000 per incident if enough people complain..  Call the FTC  1-877-FTC-HELP

We got a call from that number on my husband's cell phone, which is unlisted and is only used by family.  He was asked to give a reference on a person whose name he didn't recognize.  We live in Texas.
