Claims to be from Tennessee "FOP" Foundation.

Its and organization working for the fraternal order of police, collecting donations for families with fallen officers and such.  It all goes to a good cause...not a scam.

I agree. I'm on the do not call registry too. Yet I keep getting calls from the Tennessee FOP Foundation. They have called several times lately. It takes me a few rings to get to the phone. By the time I can get there they hang up. Last night I was in bed beside the phone (Because they were calling LATE after my bedtime) I was actually able to catch the phone before they hung up. A man asked for me by name. I said "This is Sherry" (yes, I did have a tone to my voice because I was in bed.) Well I can't remember word for word what he said, but in so many words he said never mind and hung up before I could even find out what it was about and tell them to take my number off the list and quit calling.

Do not call does not apply to CHARITIES!

However they are still required to put you on their DO NOT CALL LIST when you tell them to do so.

NEVER AGREE TO DONATE OVER THE PHONE-YOU DO NOT KNOW IF THEY ARE LEGITIMATE OR NOT.
Never agree to donate to a 3rd party telemarketer - they keep 85% -90% of all donations recieved.

If you want to donate - then do so directly with the Charity and not someone calling you.

I emailed the TN Fraternal Order of Police to tell them about these calls thinking it was a scammer using their name.  Well, they responded that it really is a legitimate call from them and if I wanted to be on their DNC list, they would do it. I responded OF COURSE but that they should train their people to be polite on the phone and be professional, etc. I encourage all of you to email them from their website and complain.  If they get enough of them, they may change for the better. http://www.tnstatefop.com/

YOU LIE.  You aren't a charity at all, your some boiler room operation stealing money under the guise of being a charity and you're an EMBARRASSMENT to law enforcement everywhere.

There are legitimate police or fire related charities, the TN FOP Foundation does NOT appear to be one of them.

You can look up TN Sec. of State govt. information on these charities online.  This one shows ZERO percent of funds going to program services, while 88% going towards fundraising, and 12% to management/general.  

Zero percent for programs?

"rob" is not lying.  He is right....obviously he works for the organization...but they are the TN FOP...donate if you can, if not ask them politely to stop calling...I myself can not afford anything right now...but it does go to a good cause.  It helps families who have had members of their family be injured or killed.  It goes to a good cause!

This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the Tennessee Fraternal Order of Police. I have called the number.  It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there’s information on www.tnstatefop.com  . Plus, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for Tennessee police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.
