The exact same thing happened to me. I will follow your lead and file a complaint with my State Attorney General (Andrew Cuomo-NY).
If this is the result, as some posters have indicated, that these calls emanate from some political action organization, I will never, NEVER, give another dime to any candidate.

Just received a call from this T#, with the Caller ID "IRI."  A man with a Massachusetts accent asked for "Mr. or Mrs. Mortenson," then when I informed him there were no such people at this number, he apologized then hung up.

I have been receiving these calls every morning for the last week :(

I have received at least ten calls from this number (on my cell) in the past few days.  The internet tells me it is BO's campaign.  Is this true?  Annoying

Received a call on May 9, 2008.  I answered and they ask for Ruth.  I ask who is calling? They hung up.  Sounded like a telemarketing room.

Same as previous posts, didn't answer, and the "caller" left no message.

If earlier posters are serious about RNC tactics, all I can say is grrrr.

Just got this call as well. I have been getting so many of these I have to change my cell number! The best thing to do is file a complaint with the FCC since it is against federal communication laws to directly solicit any wireless device.

They're not very good telemarketers, whoever they are. I got the guy on the phone after three days of them calling me. All they did was ask for my mother who wasn't in. After I told them she wasn't there, and before I was about to demand an explanation, they hung up. Real classy.

When calling back, I was told by a recording that it was for "Direct Marketing Purposes." The machine asked me to enter 1 if I wanted to be removed, and I did, and then it asked me to enter the number I called to reach them. I did, several times, and it kept saying "We're sorry, the number you have entered is not associated with our company."

Yeah, like hell it's not.

Had a hang up on my voice mail coming from this phone number today. Irritating!

I have seen "IRI" appear on our caller ID log several times this week, but did not answer the phone until this morning, May 10, 2008.  Soon after I picked up the line, the caller hung up.  Our phone number is registered with the national "Do Not Call Registry" in order to block unsolicited telemarketing phone calls, so I filed a complaint on the government website.  Go to www.donotcall.gov/ for more details.

I received a call a few minutes ago. A woman began speaking to me, but it was really bad call quality, as though she were on a cell phone in a hurricane. She said a few sentences, but all I could make out is "this call may be recorded or monitored"... I asked her to repeat, and all I heard was "Can I have your credit card". I said "Yeah right!" and hung up immediately.

I received a call from this number a few days ago but didn't answer and there was no message.

They just called our number a second time and hung up.  When I called back, the voice recording says the call is "Direct Marketing."  It asks for the Caller ID that called us, but when I punched it in, the recording kept saying, "I'm sorry.  That number is not associated with our company."  Well, of course it is, because I called it to reach them.  I will file a complaint with the attorney general's office of my state.

This is a fake obama line.  They are pretending to be associated with his campaign.  Probably john mccain camp...go figure.

Receiving calls from this number once a day.  Sometimes more.  It is an automated recording.  My caller ID identifies as RRP.

When I call back, I have the exact same experience as Anonymous as stated in the second paragraph of the post.

This is the 3rd call I have gotten from these moronic simpletons! I'm not Republican nor Democrat. I'm not even registered to vote! I want to know how these people can call me when I'm on the Do Not Call Registry???

I got a call from this number today.  It was someone who asked me to donate to Barack Obama's campaign.  I said that I was a supporter of Barack Obama, but that I don't give credit card info or money to cold-callers.  I offered to donate on the web or at a local campaign office.  The person on the other end wouldn't accept this for an answer, and fed me some line about the campaign needing money immediately.  I didn't recognize the number or the company name, so I became suspicious.  My guess is that whoever is calling from this number may be attempting to defraud Obama supporters, and I suspect that this company is in no way affiliated with the Obama campaign.  Please do not give them your financial information or any money!  If you want to donate to Obama for President, visit his web site, www.barackobama.com.

The man who called identified himself as "Lamar." He had a thick New England accent. He said he was doing fundraising for the Obama campaign. When I asked if he was a volunteer, he said, "No." I asked if he was paid to fundraise. He said, "Yes." When I questioned why I should give money through his organization instead of the Obama website, he tried to convince me that giving money through his organization was a better idea.

I contacted a friend who works for the Obama campaign and was told that they are not using paid fundraisers.

Caller ID showed 617-245-9602.  Called me at least ten times in the last two days.  I am on the do not call list.  When I answered, there was no response.  When I did not answer, they hung up when the answering machine took the call.  I bought an extended search on the phone number.  There were three hits on it :Julie Paul, 7 Lambert St. Boston, MA 02119; Rebecca Paul, 19 White Birch Road, Madison, CT 06443; and Mark Paul 10 Speare, Boston, MA 02115.  On Rebecca, showed relatives Arlene Paul, Bennett Paul, Julie Paul, Alicia Paul and M. Paul.

Been receiving calls from this number for about 2 weeks soliciting for Obama.  

I believe that (valid) political org's are exempt from the Do Not Call list.

"Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted"
