- Rebecca| 2 repliesI received a call today from a "DEA" agent in Boston, MA, from this # telling me I'm going to be arrested (they were going to be at my house soon, but he stepped in) since I have no criminal record, etc. He said I received a Fed Ex pkg of controlled meds in May and that they tracked it thru Fed Ex, etc. He said my choice was to go to court in either the District of Columbia or Dominican Republic (can't remember, was so upset) and was facing federal charges, arrest, etc. etc. I started crying thinking this was real (still unsure, but all of your posts seem to make it sound like a scam). He put me on hold while he called the "Customs Agent" in either of the above places and worked out a deal for me. He said I could pay them (DC or DR) $1800.00 in 3 days. He also told me he really hates this part of his job and was sorry I was so upset, but that I either face the charges or pay the fine. He told me to call him tomorrow (actually said to call him each day for the next 3 days). The call kept fading in and out....not sure why and he kept telling me to hold on. Hoping someone can confirm this really is a scam. I won't be sleeping tonight. Why and how can people get away with this? Anyone else receive a call like this? Thank you.
- Caller: DEA
- cricket replies to RebeccaI also got a similar call from that number. Sounds very suspicious. If you did order rx I think its someone from the same company trying to extort you. Even if you ordered controlled rx......and Im not judging you...I do not believe that the DEA bargains over the phone! Call the DEA headquartes and they can tell you without you telling them your business...if their is any investigation involving you.
I also got a call from 360-989-9832....did you or anyone else out their? Good luck, and dont worry - Cricket| 1 replyThis number is positively from a bunch of scammers who pose as DEA officers. They tell you they can get you off the hook if you send them money
Surprisingly....it works. many people send them money because they did buy narcotics on line, and somehow these [***] find out, and then they use your fear of being reported .
PLEASE...DO NOT FALL FOR THIS.....Call the real DEA info number, and report them. Yoy need not tell the DEA anything except the phone number theycalled you from, and what they wanted.- Caller: ?????

- Cricket replies to RebeccaDear Rebecca, Please do not worry....they are scammers! I called the real DEA and they told me that they are tracking them down right now. So...please don't worry....get some sleep, and enjoy whatever meds you may have ordered! Gene

FDA Warn Consumers About Phone Scam to Collect Fake Fines
7 Jan 2010
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning the public about criminals posing as FDA special agents and other law enforcement personnel as part of an international extortion scam.
The criminals call the victims -- who in most cases previously purchased drugs over the Internet or via "telepharmacies" -- and identify themselves as FDA special agents or other law enforcement officials.
The criminals inform the victims that purchasing drugs over the Internet or the telephone is illegal, and that law enforcement action will be pursued unless a fine or fee ranging from $100 to $250,000 is paid. Victims often also have fraudulent transactions placed against their credit cards.
The criminals always request the money be sent by wire transfer to a designated location, usually in the Dominican Republic. If victims refuse to send money, they are often threatened with a search of their property, arrest, deportation, physical harm, and or incarceration.
Anyone receiving a telephone call from a person purporting to be an FDA or other law enforcement official who is seeking money to settle a law enforcement action for the illegal purchase of drugs over the Internet should refuse the demand and call the FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigations Metro Washington Field Office at (800) 521-5783 to report the crime.
FDA special agents and other law enforcement officials are not authorized to impose or collect criminal fines. Only a court can take such action, with fines payable to the U.S. Treasury. - Rebecca replies to CricketCricket, thanks so much for your post/info. Thank you also to Lamet for the FDA post. I will follow your advice and report them. I don't know what I would have done without this site and everyone's help. I feel stupid saying this, but still scared at times (afraid of someone at door, cars, etc.) and know I shouldn't be. This guy was just so good at scaring me.....really good. Plus I received another call (message, didn't speak with them) from (202) 280-7705, which was from WA. Caller stated he was with the DEA, his name was officer John Santana and that I needed to call him back or his partner, special agent Manny Casgera back immediately regarding a warrent/arrest issue, etc. I haven't received any calls from the number you mentioned, (360) 989-9832...yet, but I tried to look it up and could only find it's a number from Vancouver, WA. It could be another group of scammer's, maybe from the same WA group I was called by...??? Again thank you SO much for your help!!! You've really helped me in "getting over this"....I feel so bad for everyone going thru this and really hope these jerks are caught. I'll keep posting more info if anything happens, and if I do get a call from the (360) number. Thank You!!!
- WatchDawgThis is just one more of many recent phone scams. Of course these crooks are convincing, Rebecca. That is what they do best. Con people. Scare unwitting people into sending them money. I'm glad you were shrewd enough to not fall for their obvious scam. :D

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/health/fda-fake- ... ars-156844.html - HELL HATH NO FURYThis happened to me over a year ago. I am so disappointed that this continues to happen. This SOB Rice/whatever his name is called me and it was during the time my mother was going through chemo. I didn't have the money to pay them and my poor mother, weakened from the chemo, went to the bank with me to get the 3500 they asked for. She was so upset and scared I would be arrested. I am so thankful I called a friend in law enforcement and he called them. He knew it was a scam immediately as he knew the real DEA doesn't have lieutenants.
My mother has since passed and when I think about the distress they caused to her it makes me so angry. Please, to all victims, let's not rest until we aggravate enough government agencies that they find a way to stop these horrible men. Also we have to keep calling Magic Jack, Western Union, Chase and MAKE THEM DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE CRIMINALS. They are evidently making a good living off this scam.
PLEASE JOIN ME IN CALLING THESE NUMBERS AND KEEPING THESE SOBs SO BUSY WITH OUR CALLS THAT THEY CANNOT VICTIMIZE OTHERS! IT IS MY MISSION IN LIFE TO STALK THEM UNMERCIFULLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JOIN ME PLEASE! CAN U IMAGINE IF EVERYBODY THEY HAVE VICTIMIZED BANDED TOGETHER AND CALLED THEM EVERY DAY??????????????? LET'S DO IT! HELP ME TO GIVE THEM BACK A LITTLE MISERY! THAT'S ABOUT ALL WE CAN DO RIGHT NOW!- Caller: DEA / SGT RICE
