Call ID: Massachusetts - This has to be fraud, just the phone number 555.
I did get a message: "Do you want to lower you electricity bill.... press 2 or 5..."

Called at 2:21pm on 3/9/15.

555-1769 is no. for directory assistance.

We got a call from this number today at 4:21 pm and didn't answer. The caller ID was MASSACHUSETTS. It was a robo call, and a recorded voice mail message was left regarding a discount on our electric bill. The number is obviously spoofed. When I called back (our number is hidden by default on outgoing calls) I heard a recording which stated "The number you dialed is not in service." It will be added to our call blocker.

Just got a call from 1-617-555-1769 to lower my electric bill and when I asked them to send me information in the mail before I give out my account number,she said she can't there notting she can send about the discount or there company so I hung up on her.

Stayed on long enough to make voice mail record, then hung up without LM. Obviously not "Directory Assistance."

Says "Massachusetts" on caller ID; did not leave voice mail.  Called twice today.

Third different spammer today. I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize.

Another robo spammer.  Didn't answer no message.  I'm getting anywhere between 1 and 3 calls from these [***] a day now from all different numbers.  I report every one to the DNC list but since they're probably all spoofed numbers it's not going to help but I do it anyway just in case.  At least there will be a trail if they ever catch up with these dirtballs.

Robo call from 1-617-555-1769, "Congratulations. You are eligible to lower your electric bill ... press 2 or 5..." When I didn't respond fast enough the call disconnected.

Caller ID read : Dir Assist MA.  - We don't normally get crank calls on the Land line now that everyone has a cell, But so far These people that keep calling and stating that they can reduce our electric rate all they need is the Name on the Electric Bill, and the Billing Info..I called National Grid, and they said it was a Scam affecting the Personal Info of Their Customers in the Worcester and Boston areas and to avoid them.- the next time they called I told the guy what National Grid said, and hung up on his stuttering.- Now we get these goofy calls like "Dir Assist Ma. and "Health Code 5" and Our name and number (as if we were calling ourselves on the caller ID ,-Always with nobody on the other end of the phone. Thank god for Cell phones, the land line in our house is now called the "Scamline".

The Number is in Cambridge Ma. And IT IS a Verizon number. And Alledged that if your here making a complaint about it, that you are most likely a Comcast customer, And another Victim of "Cable bill Marketing Harrassment"

I also received one today from my own number.  How do we block these toolbags?

Yup, listened to the robot saying I could lower my electric bill, then hung up. Bottom feeders preying on vulnerable people.

Keep calling every time from a different number... I keep blocking the different numbers and they still try to call... I am sick of this...

Calls consistently. No one ever on the other end.

Everything look phony these days, especially a 555 exchange. I watched this number ring through to the answering machine. No message. It called back immediately, clever con-men I suppose.

Gospel according to Wikipedia:
555-1212 is legitimate standard number for directory assistance throughout the US and Canada.
555-0100 through 555-0199 are specifically reserved for fictional use, the other numbers are reserved for actual assignment with the exception of 800-555-0199, it is reserved.
Television shows made or set in mid-1960s or earlier, KLondike-5 or KLamath-5 reflects the old convention for telephone exchange names.

The entire 555 exchange is reserved in all overlay North American toll-free area codes (844, 855, 866, 877, 888) and in Canada's rarely used non-geographic area code 600.

Throughout North America, 1-XXX-555-1212 will connect to directory assistance for the specified XXX area code, 1-800-555-1212 will connect to directory assistance for all 1-800 numbers and 1-800-555-1111 will connect to a Bell Canada operator.

555-2368 is phone number used by both Jim Rockford in the TV series The Rockford Files (as seen during the opening credits), and the Ghostbusters (as seen during their TV commercial within the film).

This number came in on my cell phone-- didn't answer it --- with the looks from other comments. I 'm glad I didn't.

Thank you Google Voice, another moron has been sent to global spam for myself and all Google Voice users.  Why would anyone pick up a call from a number you don't know?  If you don't recognize the number, I don't care if it's the Elvis calling you back from the dead, why would you answer it?  By not answering it, you avoid letting these criminals know that the number they're calling is actively accepting calls, and if it is a legit call, the person leaves what is called a Voicemail, an audio means of telling you what they're legitimately calling about so you can decide whether to call back.
