- Frustrated replies to Anonym| 1 replyI really like your "Z-SPAM" idea, better than what I do. I do something very similar on mine and my elderly mother's cell phones...by naming them "DO NOT ANSWER", but unfortunately they all land in the "D's". After renaming each call, I go an extra step to set its ringer to "NO RING" (which I love). I remember the day when it was not legal for solicitors to call cell phones. Wonder why things changed?
- Grigory OrlovI just block these sorts of numbers.
- madgeThis number called my cell phone yesterday and today. I did not answer either time, but hit *67 and called the number back. Got a fast busy signal which suggests it's not a real number. After seeing these comments, I've set my iPhone to block this caller.
- Paula TuslerI got a call from this number, but no message. My caller ID showed it coming from Quincy, Mass which is south of Boston.
- Caller: None
- LudiThis call came through on my Jitterbug cell phone. I don't even have a message-answering service on it. Glad I don't. I imagine it was to give me the wonderful New Year announcement that I have won a FREE trip to the Bahamas. My husband got one of those yesterday on his landline, but he doesn't have a caller ID.
- AnnoyedI let it go to VM. They did not leave message. I see it's definitely a spam number so I will block future calls.
- HarleyBlocked the 4512 number on my cell but repeated calls to home phone as you all have been experiencing. Too bad it's not a person on the other end because this happened with another telemarketer who called at least 3 times a day. Got so sick of it when I picked up you could hear the phone connect to someone and let them go through their pitch. I then told that person I was going to contact whatever authorities I had to because I had a log of the numerous calls throughout the day and I would file a harassment charge against the company if I received another call from them. Told me it would take 10 days to remove my # and told them it better take 10 minutes and I never heard from them again. Too bad this is not the case with this annoyance. Both my numbers are on the do not call list.l
- Caller: Quincy, MA - unknown
- Call type: Telemarketer
- joe schmogot a call from this number @7:34pm, didn't pick up. Thanks to y'all I know it's just some spam.
- lillicalled my cell, didn't recognize it, googled it and learned it is a scam/telemarketer
- patyenGet this call on my cell at least 2-3 times a week...Never answer since I don't recognize # and never any message left. These jerks and those like them, need to be shut down by the FCC or the phone companies responsible for the originating number.
- Heather WCall from Quincy MA to my cell phone (I live in MA). Free cruise to the Bahamas! Needless to say, the number is now blocked.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- DrBI answered. Nobody on the line. They hung up after 8 seconds
- pjinaries replies to FrustratedThe Repukikkkans managed to get an amendment tocked onto some bill removing the don't call cell phone restriction.
- LWJust, just called. Hung up the second I answered. So sick of this!!!
- InaThese j*rk offs dial from many different spoofed numbers. Eff OFF !
- Caller: Wankerz 'r' Us, Inc
- Call type: Prank
- Bruce replies to AnonymThe ringer on my house phone is turned off. I don't use it for incoming calls, only outgoing. My family and friends call me on my Android. (I'm hardly ever home, so it only makes sense.)
The call was blocked by the contact manager I use. There are at least a couple of managers for the Android that maintain a database of spam numbers. The one I use is a subscription, but for me it's worth it. For a quick note (and I hope no one thinks I'm advertising) I use "Contacts+". if I report it to them it's added to their database. The Android also provide one-click block.
If you can get an application that has this function, go that route.
For home phone service, I believe these can be handled in a similar way. Not sure though.
- B - Bruce replies to vicky mOnly LEGITIMATE businesses rely on that list. I doubt few others, other than the spammers themselves, consider themselves legitimate.
Unfortunately, you'll still have to find a solution for these calls. (See my earlier reply.) - BruceCall blocked by contact mamager application for my Android.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Bruce replies to Bob EI posted this below also, so bear with me.
