I just got a call from "Boston, MA 1-617-939-0094" regarding an ex-roommate/friend I had YEARS ago and have not spoken to in TEN YEARS. This person should have no way of knowing my now-married name. Yet I got a call from some legal place (no actual company name or firm given) saying that they need to serve this person I used to know with legal matters and that I was listed as a point of reference (???!!!) by said ex-friend, and that if I could give any info to her whereabouts please call 1-617-939-0053 with some case number. I called the number and there is nothing but deadspace, and then I could not figure out how ex-friend could have possibly known my whereabouts or married name to use me as anything! I looked up the number I was supposed to call that lead nowhere, and it seems people are reporting getting scam harrassing phone calls FROM that number, but I was told to CALL that number, and I was actually called FROM this one. Feeling very creeped out. Do not want ANYTHING to do with ex-friend, since that person is a scammer and untrustworthy in the FIRST place, and now I get this creepy call? This sounds all very strange.
