Random unknown call, no VM

Spam or scam. I keep getting calls from random numbers but lately just from my area code about my file for a loan almost approved. Sounds like a scam wanting my info to steal my identity or pure spam I do not want. These calls started a couple days after I gave a check to my realtor for a house I was buying and the amount they offered for the "loan" was the same amount as the check I wrote. Clearly, there is something wrong with the system somewhere.
