Call all the time and ask for my wife who works part time

Called, looking for a Virginia, told then that they had to wrong number.

Received a call from this number at 10:41 this morning.  The woman said she was calling from "Clean Energy Works." (From what I can find on the web, it's a newly formed coalition to lobby for grassroots support for passage of a Senate climate bill this fall.) We have received several prior calls from this number and the caller wouldn't leave a message, which is very annoying. I immediately asked her to take me off her call list, and she said she would.

I'm getting calls from 618-576-6094 sometimes two or three times a day. It must be computer generated, because there is a pause and I hang up before there is a message. We are on the national "NO CALL LIST" and wonder why we are getting these calls.

618-576-6094 from Hardin, IL has been calling at least 3 times a day for weeks from early morning to nearly 9 p.m.  Just as previous posters have said, if you answer there is a pause and nobody is there so I hang up.  After a couple such calls I realized this was a computerized call and have let it ring.  The answering machine picks up but they never leave a message.  I realize these could be political fundraisers but anyone using them should be aware of how annoying these calls are.  Makes me wonder if they get paid for each attempt or why else would they be so persistent?   I will only make donations directly to a candidate or charity because of these types of annoying calls.  Shortly after I began to ignore these calls I starting getting the same kind of calls from 517-203-1400 in Lansing, MI.  They seem to alternate calls and I am wondering if they are connected thinking that if I don't answer one number maybe I will answer another.    These calls are just plain rude.  I have health issues and fall easily and have climbed down from a ladder and down a flight of stairs to catch the call only to see on the caller ID it is THEM.  I have rushed up from the basement, rushed in from outside only to see it is THEM.  I just wish the NO CALL list could be revised to cover fund raisers.  Think of how much of your donation goes to these fundraisers before it gets to the intended recipients.   They should be limited to a certain number of attempts and then leave a message so the recipient could call back if they wanted to participate in whatever it is they are collecting for or polling for or whatever the heck it is they are doing besides being professional harassers.  Thanks for letting me vent.

Yes, it is time to expand the do not call list--political calls for sure, nonprofits OK  (I work for a nonprofit, won't hurt me).  I would also like the do not call listing to be valid notice for collection agencies to contact by writing rather than by phone.
   I'm in Iowa so I'm STILL getting poltical calls.

relentless isn't the word and they ignore no call lists since it's from a  political agency, I sent a fax to all the senators letting them know for every call I get from this outfit, so will they and after midnight their time now we'll see how the Illinois politicians like the same treatment !

No one responds.  Even if you wait several minutes.  It doesn't have any sound or disconnect unless you hang up.

Caller ID just says Illinois Caller.  I don't answer numbers I don't know - thank God for caller ID. (618-576-6094)

I have received 6 phone calls from this number today, 4 of which were in the span of 2 hours! They have been calling my house for weeks and I am expecting more calls tonight. It was starting to freak me out but then I decided to Google the phone number. Telemarketers?! I'm on a 'do not call' list so this is ridiculous. Thank you so much for posting!

thanks so much for the info... had their number appear on my caller i.d. and didn't know who in the heck they were. btw online reverse directories are a crock of hooey! y'all made me feel more confident about calling them back. yes, it is apparently some political nonsense. yes, there is a "take me off the list" thingy. hopefully it works. thanks everybody!!!

We got another call from another lobbyist. The have been calling every morning. I can say they are from Illinois and lobbying for the Teamsters. Number is unlisted but can be found on reverse look-up.

They keep calling constantly, even late at night. Very annoying.

My caller ID says Hardin, IL and they will not say anything when I answer, ask who they are, what they want and above all. STOP CALLING me 4 or 5 times a day.

Yes, you can call them back and leave your number (to not be called again) and they also give their website, www.meyer something or other.com (lousy memory!!!) But I just went there and did the same, just to be sure.  So two ways to be added to their do not call list.  Now we'll see if it actually works...

And yes, esp. after reading some of these comments, I'd love to know exactly what they were calling about, as it sounds as though they contract with all sorts of agencies and campaigns. If I lived in Iowa, I'd know.  But I'm in Wisconsin. Maybe the Walker Recall???  (I'm all for it!)

Why do i get these calls from this nut.

Its just a political survey about he upcoming presidential election. I usually don't answer these calls but did today and was glad I did. I voiced my opinion about our current president and it seems they favor Romney, since it was the only person they mentioned specifically other than Obama.

I believe it is a chance to actually put some input into current politics, since these are statistics that will be analysed. So rather than complain about your tax refund being delayed, for example, or how our current president performs a job that most of us couldn't even dream of doing, talk to these people and let them know how you feel.

Like JFK, Obama inherited a mess and has been trying to clean it up.Obama has had a lot of distractions,( just like JFK - Bay of Pigs , Missle Crisis ) yet had to attend to a bad economy at home. This economy is bad, with many people who are even working not earning enough money to pay rent, but you can not blame that on Obama since things right after he came into office and his Republican Congress keeps opposing him at every turn. He has made preventative care mandatory and will counter adverse selection in health ( wellfare ) insurance plans by making the healthy buy insurance along with all the sick people who always elect to get insurance. ( at work )

My point above is that "health insurance" is not the term anymore since people want first dollar coverage that pays everything. That is not insurance it is demanding your employer and its insurance company to be your blank check. Insurance is for unexpected expenses that you could not possibly pay - like totalling out a $60,000 truck that you can not afford in the first place - yet you complain about the costs of everything else.

Speak up when you can, and quit complaining and expecting everyone and every entity to take care of you. Save you money, quit getting tatoos and piercing when you do not have a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out of.
