- Dave| 2 repliesReceived a phone call from a foreign speaking individual at work threatening me that my house would be seized along with other assets. That he needed me to contact him back immediately and that this was the last time that they would be calling.
My advice, do not give them any personal information. How can he seize my house when I rent and do not own. Anyways I think the best thing for all of us victims to do is to not answer their phone calls or return their phone calls.
The FBI and other U.S. Federal agencies are not going to do anything about it. I contacted the FBI in San Diego when this first started happening to me and they said and I quote "The dollar value that you were ripped off for (I had fallen for this once in October of 2010 but never again) is not great enough for the FBI to go after" Their minimal usually is $100,000. So, the more we know of these idiots and the less we pay attention to them by not calling them, the more this new type of fradulent activity will go away.
Yelling at them will not make the phone calls stop nor reporting them to federal agencies are not going to make the stop.
Just my advice.- Caller: Legal Company

- toni jones| 4 repliesI received a call from 619-320-0434 saying that criminal charges has been filed against and to call them immediately, when I called from my job phone I got a answer machine to leave a message however it did not give a name, but when I called from my cell phone and asked what company it was the guy answered the phone asked for my name, and stated again what company is this he said give me your name before I give you the name of the company or I will hang up on you. I told him F---- you and hung up on him..This has got to be a scam of some sort.
- athenaJust recieved a call from this number.. said he was from some law office... said i was being sued.. said by who.. he said call back to find out.. why would i call back if you called me so tell me who.. scam
- AndreaLmao! I just received that same voicemail & at the end of the message the guy said "if you do not return my call then good luck" I am glad I googles the phone number& came upon these postings.
- Steve| 2 repliesThe fact they they are calling a work phone # is entertaining. Obviously they are getting these #'s off of some directory. I would like to also add that this is actually illegal as they are "harassing" us at work, which is a federal crime as they cannot call you on a private matter on a work phone and threaten you.

- DerekI just received a call from this company as well as many of you did. I just let it go to VM since I do not answer calls from people I do not know. I foreign lady left a VM saying that I needed to call her back immediatly and if she did not hear from me or my attorney that she would have to file papers to put me in jail. I called the number back and a guy answer. I simply stated that I had a VM and was wondering who this company was and wanted to know what they wanted. He said something and I could not understand what he said. I repeated myself and asked who the company was and what they wanted. He screamed at me and said I told you three damn times who it was. I asked for his manager or supervisor and he hung up. I called right back and they picked up and hung up. This place is CRAZY. They have went on google and found information on my family and have called them. Thinking about going to the police station and filing charges.
- Resident47This likely is yet another fake payday loan collector calling from overseas. Their threats are empty and their rude tactics are illegal under federal law, the FDCPA. Do not argue with them, do not comply with their extortionist demands. Show them you know you have rights they are trampling.
Try demanding a mailing address or a full business name. If the caller fudges his answer or you cannot verify it, it's likely a PDL sham. Challenge their horse puckey threats; they often make rude remarks and hang up. As the bullies like to hassle people at workplaces, advise your employers and coworkers these calls are garbage.
The usual response to such a runaway debt collector stateside is to send a cease-comm letter and file suit. If you find a valid US address, please do so. Fierce consumer lawyers will leap at the chance to run such a case on contingency. However, being mostly outside U.S. borders and having no discernable addresses, these particular criminals rarely make it possible for individuals to punish them. Submit complaints to the FTC and attorneys general. The FBI is also taking comments on these hostile thugs. Pester anyone with proper authority until this fraud is investigated and smashed.

Learn how to exercise your rights as an alleged debtor at FTC-dot gov. The more you know of illegal practices, the faster you will sniff out the fraudsters. - Resident47 replies to Steve} they cannot call you on a private matter on a work phone and threaten you.
That's not quite how the FDCPA reads on the issue. Debt collectors may call workplaces for skip tracing, and must stop when notified by the alleged debtor or an employer. Of course, hostile treatment is illegal in any case.
Workplace numbers are not found in a handy "directory" but through the many data trafficking firms we cannot control, such as credit reporting bureaus, ChoicePoint, Chex Systems, public records, and so on. These particular fake collection criminals rely heavily on data lifted from payday loan applications, even those never completed, essentially monetizing otherwise worthless paper. - anonymous replies to DaveLegit collectors per section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf *must* tell you at initial contact, or send you paperwork within 5 days of initial contact, the following:
1. $amount of debt,
2. name of the current creditor (which may differ from the original creditor who might have sold your debt),
3. a statement that that debt will be assumed to be valid unless you dispute in writing within 30 days,
4. a statement that that if you do dispute in writing within 30 days, the collector must mail you written verification of the debt,
5. a statement that if you ask the collector in writing within 30 days, the collector must send you the name and address of the original creditor if it's different from the current creditor.
If you don't get the 5 disclosures, orally or in writing (you do not have to ask for it, the FDCPA requires it), treat the collector like you would any SCAMMER. Scammers are using bought/hacked loan application data to extort payments for fictitious debts from victims and victims' families and friends.

This is the second time I've received this call at work. The first time it scared me. They said it was an urgent message and gave me another # to call saying they needed my attorney information and that criminal charges had been filed against me. Funny that I've never been to California (I believe this is a California area code) but I have criminal charges against me? When I received the call again today at work, I advised "Michelle Lewis" as she said her name was (however, caller id says Anwer Thablane) that I knew this was a scam and not to call me again. She said she hadn't called before and I told her she had. I told her I was recording the phone conversation and I did not want to receive calls again. She told me to be ready to face the legal reprecutions.
- KellyThe same thing happened to me. I got a call from this number today on my cell and they left me a voicemail. It was a foreign man and I could barely understand what he said. I didn't respond to call the right away until someone in the accounting department got a call from them asking for me at my work. So i called the number back on my break and the first time I called there was no answer. So I tried again a minute later and a man picked up the phone saying that he worked for an attorney's office. I gave him my name and asked why he had called and he said that the voicemail he had left me earlier was to inform me of a lawsuit that was being filed against me. I told him there should be no reason for anyone to file a lawsuit against me and this must be some sort of scam. Then all he said to me was "fine, we tried to warn you about a possible lawsuit. Thats your own fault that you didn't take care of this now when it comes back and bothers you in the future!" And then the guy hung up on me. This definately feels like a scam.....
- teisha| 1 replymy husband just got the same call at work...it scared him.. So I took off to see what was going on.. I had to close all the bank accounts up... because he confirm all information. We need to find a way to stop these crazy fools. go to the media and let them know about this scam.. Therefore, others can be aware of this scam. when we contact them we all need to proscute them. Melissa lewis never answer her phone and a man is very rude and does not give any information about what the charges are for...crazy!
- Kelly| 1 replyTeisha,
Did your husband give them that banking information or did they already have it? Also, I did notice on another website that had posts about this phone number that someone mentioned something about them possibly getting our information from a PayDay Loans website. I visited one of there websites and wanted to know if your husband or anyone else on here that has made a post has visited one of those PayDay Loan websites because I am thinking there might be a common denominator. - Kelly replies to teishaTeisha,

- beth martin| 2 repliesI received a vm and I called the number. On the phone was a foreign speaking guy. When I called I got the same person. He asked me who called I said calvin Johnson he said funny no one here has that name. He first asked me who my lawyer was I was like I don't give out that information without knowing what it is for. He then said that cash advance group has a file against me for money laundering. I was like what the F. I did go on a couple of cash advances as my husband blew a tire and we were strap for money. He then said didn't my paralegal tell me what this was regarding I was like no and he got all mad when i kept on asking what it was about. He then said I will read something to you and do not interrupt me if you have any questions we will go over them at the end. What he read was saying that I have charges filed against me and that i need a lawyer and that a SHERIFF will be at my house tomorrow. I was like could you please tell me when this took place I was a victim of identify theft in the beginning of the year. I then asked what information he could tell me and then he hung up. I looked up the number but it didn't tell me anything. Then I called the bank and the bank found this website and said that it was a scam.. I think they are getting the information from the cash advance website. He knew my e mail so know I am thinking about changing my e-mail.

- kimberlyHi Mario, Andrew, Karen, etc...(these are the representatives from the 'Legal Dept of DFF' & the law office of John Murray)- they know me :) personally
I am so glad to assist your company with the publicity your company needs. See, Monday I received a call from a lovely man named Mario (?) from some legal department at some company (very heavy accent). He called my job repeatedly that day, my cell phone and my house phone. He said that I had taken out a payday loan & had not paid back. I told him BS!! I know bill collectors, if you ask, should not call your job and can send you something in writing, if they are legit. So I did ask for this to happen and Mario got louder and demanded to speak to my manager. Well, that night when I got home, he had the balls to call back. I lit into his tail. Told him he was scum for stealing from people, how can you sleep/live with yourself. Finally, he breaks and tells me he's a single dad & the only way for him to make money is to get from Americans like me. (The rich kind asking for payday loans :P) He agreed to take me off the list and wished me a blessed day. 2 days later I get another call. I am blowing there crap up. Calling them back, harrassing them, faxing to their phone number, I would like to suggest to everyone that gets these calls to flip the script on them!!!!!- Caller: Attorney John Murray
